The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Crazy-For-Books and is currently being hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. Every Friday, a new question is posted for book bloggers to answer in the coming week. The purpose of the hop is connection and community. You can discover new blogs to follow, new books to read, and you may end up with some new followers, as well!

Oof, only one? Books in and of themselves make me thankful and happy!
Hmm…
If I’m limited to just one, I’m still gonna cheat and pick an entire series. Because that’s how this book nerd rolls.
And the one that I choose is….

The Harry Potter Series!
I discovered Harry Potter after the first movie was released in 2001. I went to see it in the theater and the first thing I thought after walking out was, “I need to read that book!” I went to a nearby bookstore and picked up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. I’m fairly certain I read the entire book that night. I was officially hooked.
Now, I was not the target audience for the Harry Potter books (at least the first few) since I was in my second year of college in 2001, but I fell for them hard. The first four books were already out, so I binge read them in quick succession. I attended midnight releases for the last three books and loved every minute of it. I was sorted (proud Gryffindor, here), choose my wand, and got a patronus on Pottermore. And this series is one of the few books I actually re-read. Now I’m foisting it on my 12 year old, who is currently reading The Order of the Phoenix and has declared she’s either a Slytherin or a Ravenclaw.
I often wonder why the books struck such a chord with me. I was in college after all and, some would say, should have been reading more “adult” books. But I think it was because I was in college that I was so enamored with Harry Potter. It was the perfect escape from all my science classes like *shudder* organic chemistry. After studying, I could let my brain unwind while we followed Harry and the gang on their adventures. It was cozy and safe and just made me happy in a time of my life when I was more stressed out than I’ve ever been. So, I may not have been the target demographic, but Harry Potter will always hold a special place in my heart.
So what book makes you thankful or happy? Can you think of just one or are you like me and have several that come to mind? Let’s talk in the comments!
And, as always, happy reading!
