The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Crazy-For-Books and is currently being hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. Every Friday, a new question is posted for book bloggers to answer in the coming week. The purpose of the hop is connection and community. You can discover new blogs to follow, new books to read, and you may end up with some new followers, as well!
This week’s BBH ties in with American Thanksgiving and shopping. Let’s take a look at our question for the week.
Way back in my college days, I worked retail. I remember working on Black Friday. I remember the crowds and the rudeness and dealing with sleep-deprived bargain hunters. Now that I’m out of retail, I would never willingly insert myself into that situation. I feel for anyone that has to work a Thanksgiving Day or Black Friday sale!
I’m also not a huge fan of the fact that retail stores are even open on any holiday. Like retail workers don’t have families they would like to see? I know there are plenty of people that have to work on holidays… I work in the healthcare profession and this is the first time in YEARS that I actually got to spend all of Thanksgiving with my family. But I also understand why a hospital can’t just close. Wal-mart, however, does not NEED to be open. I suppose there are people that might rather work than go see family. Still, it’s another reason I avoid Thanksgiving Day/Black Friday shopping.
Of course, the deals cannot be denied and, if you are a fan of Thanksgiving Day/Black Friday, go grab ’em up! I’ll just be staying cozy at home with my family. And taking advantage of Cyber Monday! I’m sure books will be in the mix, though I usually go for the electronics because they are wicked expensive normally. Give me all the discounts on the electronics!
So how about you? Do you/did you buy anything on Thanksgiving Day, Black Friday, or Cyber Monday? Did you snatch up any books? If so, which one? Let me know in the comments!
And, as always, happy reading!
