WWW Wednesday: Jan 1, 2020

Happy New Year, everyone! It’s time for another WWW Wednesday! This is a bookish meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words where bloggers answer the 3 Ws:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

Current Reads

The God Game by Danny Tobey

I’ve started my first 2020 ARC! This has been billed as Ready Player One meets Stranger Things and I knew I had to read it. It was a slow start, but I’m really starting to get into it!

Recently Finished

The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas

Rating: 4 out of 5.

I FINALLY FINISHED IT!!! And I did it before 2020! Honestly, I ended up really enjoying this book. I don’t know what took me so long to get through it. I will say the middle was kind of slog, but THE END! The end is just… *chef’s kiss*

The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O’Neill

Rating: 4 out of 5.

OMG, this graphic novel was absolutely adorable! It’s the story of Greta, an apprentice blacksmith who saves a tea dragon and is introduced to an entirely new world. Everything about this was whimsical and beautiful. And the representation, y’all!

Pumpkinheads by Rainbow Rowell and Faith Erin Hicks

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I went on a mini-graphic novel kick and this was my favorite of the bunch. It was beautifully illustrated and the story made my heart happy. I legitimately could not stop smiling as I read.

The Prince and the Dressmaker by Jen Wang

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Another fantastic graphic novel! The story of a seamstress and a prince that likes to wear dresses, this was so beautifully done. The art is gorgeous and the story made me tear up for so many different reasons. Definitely recommend!

What’s Next

A Heart so Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer

The next ARC up will be this beauty. I enjoyed A Curse so Dark and Lonely, so I’m looking forward to continuing the story. Also, can we just appreciate that cover? It’s absolutely gorgeous!

So, have you read any of these books? What is going to be your first read of the new year? Let me know in the comments!

And, as always, happy reading!
