#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook where you chose five books from your to-be-read pile that fit that week’s theme. If you’d like more info, head over to the announcement post!
Hello, reader!
It’s been a minute since I participated in the #5OnMyTBR weekly meme, hasn’t it? When I saw this week’s theme, I knew I couldn’t pass it up! Strap on your capes and fasten your utility belts; we’re talking about superheros! Though I don’t know the most about superheros and am hopelessly behind on Marvel movies, they were always hold a special place in my heart. I remember growing up reading comic books and cartoon shows centered around superheros, as most kids did. So I’m excited to talk about 5 superhero books on my TBR!
#1. Vicious by V.E. Schwab
This one has been on my TBR for quite some time. I actually own it, too! And, though the main protagonists in this novel aren’t superheros, they definitely have superpowers, so I’m counting it. It focuses on Victor and Eli, college roommates who develop a way to give themselves superpowers. It sounds like it’s going to be an intense, morally grey tale and I’m ready for it.
#2. Renegades by Marissa Meyer
I will admit, before I sat down and read Cinder, this series wasn’t even on my radar. I had no experience with Marissa Meyer’s writing, so I wanted to try the Lunar Chronicle books before I even considered any of her other stuff. I don’t know why… it honestly makes no sense 🤷🏾♀️ But I finally read Cinder and really enjoyed it, so now my curiosity about her superhero series has been piqued! It sounds rather morally grey, as well, so I’m excited to pick it up.
#3. Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo
I actually have all of the D.C. Icons books on my TBR! Well… except for the Superman one because… meh. But this one, beyond being the first one in the series, is written by my favorite author out of all the books! It helps that Wonder Woman is a badass, as well. I’m so excited to read Bardugo’s take on the legend that is Princess Diana.
#4. The Young Elites by Marie Lu
This was another one that wasn’t on my radar because I had never read anything by the author! Unlike Marissa Meyer’s, though, I ended up reading something that was far from Marie Lu’s most iconic work. But I really enjoyed The Kingdom of Back, so now I kind of want to read Lu’s other books. Legend is, of course, on my TBR, but The Young Elites honestly sounds even more intriguing. And superheros, yay!
#5. Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson
The more I read from Brandon Sanderson, the more of a fan I become. His writing just has a way of sucking me in and enveloping me in the story! That being said, I’ve only read books from the Cosmere universe and I’m curious about his other stuff. That’s how Steelheart ended up on my TBR. In this one, the superheros aren’t really the “good guys” and that’s just enough of a twist to pull me in. If the writing is anything like his other books, I’m sure I’ll love it!
Have you read any of these books? What are some superhero books on your TBR? Let me know in the comments!
And, as always, happy reading!
Steelheart is fun!

I want to read Vicious at some point as well! Honestly, I didn’t know about the superpowers there, just that it has somewhat morally-gray MCs and that’s a compelling point!!
Great choices and thanks for participating!! ❤

Loved your list Kerri, I never was a huge superhero fan, I just never really got it lol, but in an effort to get into these worlds, I’ve had these books on my TBR for so many years, I really need to get to them soon! 🙂

Thanks, Ellie ❤️ I’m not as big a superhero fan as I used to be when I was a kid, but I still enjoy a good superpowered book every once in awhile! Perhaps I’ll finally pick one of these up soon 😂😅
