WWW Wednesday: Jul 8, 2020

It’s time for another WWW Wednesday! This is a bookish meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words where bloggers answer the 3 Ws:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

If you’d like to learn more about any of these books, click on the cover to be taken to the Goodreads page.

Current Reads

  • The Jumbies by Tracey Baptiste: I’m reading this book as part of the Middle Grade Marvels book club and it’s incredibly hard sticking with the reading schedule! It’s such an interesting and fun story and the setting is richly invoked. I can’t wait to get back into it!
  • Thomas Wildus and the Book of Sorrows: This is another book I’m reading as part of the Middle Grade Marvels group! (Which, btw, you should all totally join) I just started this one because ya girl packed her copy and just found it yesterday, heh. That being said, so far I’m enjoying the journey!
  • Voice of War by Zack Argyle: This is a fantasy novel I’m reading for a blog tour run by Storytellers on Tour. It’s definitely got me intrigued, so far, and the world-building is pretty on point. I’m excited to continue this one, as well.

  • Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend: Uuuuuugh, I LOVED THIS BOOK! It was so charming and whimsical. I wish I could hang out in Nevermoor and pet Fen even though Fen would more than likely bite my hand off if I tried. I just want the chance to try, dangit! You can read my review here.
  • The Southern Book Club’s Guide to Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix: I went into this horror novel with approximately zero expectations and came out the other side covered in gore and loving every minute of it 😆 This was intense, frightening, and quite the ride! But definitely check trigger warnings before you venture into this one. You can read my review here.
  • A Threat From the Past by Paul Cude: I read this book on the Reedsy Discovery website and, though the subject matter was definitely interesting (dragons!), this book wasted a lot of time explaining every. single. detail about dragon life. It got a bit dull, which is saying something when you’re talking about dragons! Still, the main story was pretty fun.
  • Fire and Vengeance by Robert McCaw: This was an ARC I received from the publisher and I’m so thankful they sent it my way! I really enjoyed this Hawaiian adventure and I’m looking forward to picking up more Koa Kane mysteries! You can read my review here.

What’s Next

  • The Ship of Shadows by Maria Kuzniar: This is a middle grade book I’ll be reading for another #TheWriteReads Ultimate Blog Tour. It’s got pirates, so you know I’m excited! I’m eager to dig into this one.
  • Knightmare Arcanist by Shami Stovall: And this is a fantasy book I’m reading for yet another #TheWriteReads Ultimate Blog Tour! This one promises lots of magical critters and I cannot wait. And I was lucky enough to get a physical copy, so you know I’m pumped!

What are you currently reading? Read any new favorites lately? Let me know in the comments!
