Stuck At Home Book Tag

Hello, reader!

It has been awhile since I’ve done a book tag, hasn’t it? And so many wonderful people have been tagging me lately, too! I promise I will catch up soon 😅 With that in mind, today I’ll be doing the Stuck At Home book tag, even though we’re no longer in the thick of lockdown. Not to say some places shouldn’t be, but things are definitely not as strict as they were back in March!

Before I get into the tag, I want to thank the ever-awesome Danni @ _forBooksSake for tagging me! Y’all should most definitely go check her out 😊

Alright, let’s jump in!

The Rules:

  • Thank the person who tagged you (Thanks again, Danni!)
  • Answer the questions down below
  • Pingback to the creator: Ellyn @Allonsythornaxx.
  • Nominate 5+ bloggers you’d like to know more about, to do this tag

What are you currently reading?

A kajillion different books, but the one I’m enjoying the most right now is The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang. I read The Poppy War recently and adored it! I mean, it hurt my soul in a lot of ways, but I still loved it. It’s dark, Rin is kind of terrible, and the outlook is bleak, but I couldn’t get enough of it! So now I’m subjecting myself to the sequel, fully prepared to be hurt again.

What is your favorite ‘can’t leave the house’ activity?

*glances at all her books* …Besides the obvious?

I love playing video games and board games! I’m currently playing through Paper Mario: The Origami King on the Switch and having a blast. My family and I have also discovered Among Us and have become addicted 😬 My daughter is scarily good at being the Imposter… We also really like weird board games, like Mansions of Madness and Betrayal at Hill House.

A book you’ve been meaning to read forever.

Hahaha, SO MANY. But we’ll go with The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman. Mostly because it’s spooky season, which would be the perfect time to read this creepy middle grade book about a boy that lives in a graveyard. But also because, of the ones I was choosing between, it’s one I actually own and I love the author. Mayhaps I’ll read it closer to Halloween this year and finally get it off my TBR.

An intimidating book on your TBR.

😬😬😬

I have a lot of intimidating books that I want to read (eventually), but Les Misérables by Victor Hugo is most definitely at the top of the list. I feel like I’m going to love it once I give it chance… But it has two things that make me hesitant:

  1. It’s a classic and I have a sordid history with those.
  2. She thicc!

One day I will read it, though! One day!

Top 3 books on your TBR.

I have so many books that I’m excited to read, so picking the top three was a challenge! I’ve decided to go with A Phoenix First Must Burn edited by Patrice Caldwell, Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse, and Cinderella is Dead by Kalynn Bayron. All three are fantasy novels, all three are by or include authors who I’m really eager to read from, and all three are written by POC! And I own all three so the possibility of me actually picking them up soon is much higher! I would especially like to read Black Sun this month as it releases next week.

Recommend a short book.

All Systems Red by Martha Wells! It’s the first book in the Murderbot series and it had me completely hooked! Just talking about it makes me want to abandon all the books I’m currently reading and pick up the book two, lol. Murderbot is amazing and I need to know more about them. I already went down the fanart rabbit hole, now I just need to read the rest of the series!

Recommend a long book.

Though not the longest book this author has ever written, The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson is definitely my favorite! And she’s still pretty chonky, ngl. I love the original Mistborn trilogy! Vin is my girl and I would fight for her at the drop of a hat. I still haven’t read The Hero of Ages, but I can’t imagine it’ll be anything but a win in my book. And then I have the next Mistborn trilogy to look forward to!

What book do you plan on reading next?

There are a lot of books chilling on my TBR, but the one that I’m planning on picking up the soonest is The Doll Factory by Elizabeth MacNeal. Mostly because I’m in a group chat/buddy read and I really need to catch up 😅 There’s just too many books and so little time! The familiar lament of the book-lover. Still, this historical fiction sounds suitably creepy for this time of year. I’m excited to read it!

There we have it! Another book tag complete! I feel as though every book blogger I know has already done this tag, though, lol. Still, if you’re reading this, thought the questions were fun, and would like to have a go… consider yourself tagged!

And, as always, happy reading!

  1. I never was intimidated by Les Misérables- the musical is why I wasn’t. To read the book, I literally used what I know of the musical to help understand the book
