In a further attempt to catch up on the various tags I’ve been meaning to do, today I bring you the Dark Academia book tag! Dark academia is a genre that has always captured my interest, though I only recently learned the term for it. I like dark stories already… set them in a college or other school setting and I’m instantly more interested! That being said, this tag sounded right up my alley.

What is your favourite painting and/or sculpture?

Imma be real basic and go with Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. There’s something about this painting that has always captured my imagination. I even bought a Kindle cover that is a recreation of this famous piece. It’s just so beautiful! I love all the blues and the strange, swirling patterns. I would love to see this in person one day when travelling and going to museums is again a thing.

What is your favourite architectural marvel?

Can I pick one that no longer exists? Because, though there are a lot of awe-inspiring structures out in the world, the one that immediately popped into my head burned down centuries ago. I’m talking about The Library of Alexandria. What I wouldn’t give to be able to see it with my own eyes and explore the collection! The amount that I miss a historic building that no one alive today has ever even seen is silly, tbh 😅😂

How many languages do you speak and which language would you most like to learn?

Heh… I’m pretty dull when it comes to languages. I only know English, though I would love to learn more! Spanish is at the top of the list as I took it in high school and college, so I have more of a foundation than other languages. I also think it’s a beautiful language. My brain is pretty terrible when it comes to learning languages, though, so I’d probably need to just stick with Spanish before I try and learn anything else.

What is your favourite quote?

Whenever I get asked this question, I always draw a blank. I don’t think there is one, specific quote I can choose as a favorite. Mostly because my brain is terrible at retaining random phrases, even if I love them as I read/hear them. That being said, I decided to pick one of my favorite quotes from one of my favorite books, The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern. I love this one because it’s so true and speaks to how to something that people can sometimes forget: not every story is for every reader and that’s okay!

What fictional character’s death is your ideal way to go?

I’m gonna have to agree with Livy on this one and say that most character deaths are far too dramatic for my tastes, lol. I would preferably like to go in my sleep with as little drama as possible, thank you.

What university/college would you like to attend?

I got my Bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and I’m more than likely done with higher education, so… Go Bucks! Though, with the sports scandals and other bad media lately, I’m not sure how comfortable I am supporting my alma mater.

That being said, if I could go back in time and choose any college/university, I would probably go with Harvard. I love the campus, I love the atmosphere, and I love the surrounding area! I’d have to deal with all the rich kids and Good Ol’ Boys, but it is one of the best colleges in the country so I think I could manage.

What is your murder weapon or murder method of choice?

*true-crime-nerd-ing intensifies*

If I wanted to get away with it? Probably poison. Poison and some hogs to take care of the body.

If I didn’t care about getting away with it? An elaborately staged “accident” where I don’t have to get my hands dirty. Perhaps a Rube Goldberg machine of murder that ends with an anvil falling on the victim’s head. Ya know, really Wiley E. Coyote it up.

What mythology would you like to be a part of?

Oof… they’re all a bit tragic, aren’t they? That being said, I am fascinated with Greek mythology, so I suppose I’d have to go with that one. Perhaps I can insinuate myself into one that doesn’t end with death or dismemberment.

Though, knowing the Greek gods… probably not.

If you had a PHD what would you chose to do it on?

Even though I said I’m done with higher education, if I were to go back, I would probably focus on Microbiology. I work as a microbiology lab technician and I just find it fascinating! I want to know all there is to know about all the little microorganisms in our world.

Either that or marine biology. I love the ocean, I love animals, my Bachelor’s is in Animal Sciences… it just makes sense.
