After a week of not many posts (I swear I’ll get on an actual schedule at some point), I’m back with a tag! The wonderful Danni @ _ForBooksSake tagged me to do the Piano Playlist Book Tag. If you’re a fan of thrillers and darker tales (or, honestly, just a really great blog), you should definitely check her out!
We’ve established that I love music and books all mashed up together, so I was excited to give this tag a go. I’m also excited because I grew up being immersed in classical music, so seeing so many familiar pieces on this list made me little music nerd heart happy. That being said, let’s jump in!

Beethoven – Moonlight Sonata: A book you read that had an unexpected plot twist near the end.
The Dragon Republic by R.F. Kuang
There are twists upon twists in this book, but there is one at the end that just hurts y’all. Looking back, I knew it was coming. At the time, however, I was shooketh 😂 Now I have to read the last book to see how that twist plays out!
Lizst – La Campanella: A book that you couldn’t even finish.
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë
This is one of the few books that I just refused to finish. I couldn’t get into anything about this book: the characters, the atmosphere, the actual plot. I hated every little bit of it and I ended up “losing” the book because I just… couldn’t. And that’s saying a lot because I managed to hate-read the entirety of The Scarlet Letter and that book is awful.
Rimsky-Korsakov – Flight of the Bumblebee: A book that was crazy and chaotic that you couldn’t even figure out what was happening.
House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski
I don’t know if this counts as cheating as I haven’t actually finished this book yet. But I can definitely tell you that what I’ve read so far can only be described as cHAoS. I’ve never mumbled “What the f***” under my breath so many times while reading a book… We’ll see how I ended up liking it when I finally get through it.
Mozart – Rondo Alla Turca: A book that is so over-recommended that everyone and their grandma has read it. (it’s still good, though)
Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend
I feel like everyone in the bookish community who enjoys middle grade has read and recommended this book. And, you know what? It totally deserves the hype! It’s such a sweet and heart-warming story with just enough darkness to make it fascinating. I’m excited to continue the series!
Beethoven – Für Elise: A book that has been one of your favorites for ages.
The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede
This was my absolutely favorite series when I was a kid and I still love it to this day. I’m due for a re-read, honestly, but I lost my copies long ago. I really want to hunt myself down a new set, eventually, so I can settle back in with this fantastic story about a rebellious princess and, of course, dragons!
Chopin – Fantaisie-Impromptu: A book that is high up on your to be read list.
The Wife Upstairs by Rachel Hawkins
Hahaha, there are SO MANY. This book, however, is not only one I’m really excited to read, but one on my Trope-ical Readathon TBR! So, unlike all the poor books languishing on my TBR bookshelf, this one will actually be picked up soon, lol. I’m really looking forward to getting into this thriller that doubles as a Jane Eyre retelling.
Beethoven – Sonata No. 17 “Tempest” 3rd Movement: A book that you love but isn’t that well-known.
The Great Library series by Rachel Caine
I will forever yell about this incredible series until more people have read it. It’s such a fantastic story that asks the question, “What could the world look like if the Library of Alexandria never burnt to the ground?” It’s unique and fast-paced and I absolutely adore the characters in this tale. Just… *throws the book at people* read it!
Mozart – Eine Kleine Nachtmusik: A book that is extremely long, but you still like it.
The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
This is a chonky boy and a classic: two things that made me hesitant to pick it up. I’m glad I did, though, because I loved this one! This book is the foundation of the revenge plot and it’s just so satisfying and well done. It does get a bit meander-y in the middle, but the end is just *chef’s kiss*
Debussy – Clair De Lune: A book that was wonderful from start to finish.
Tristan Strong Punches a Hole in the Sky by Kwame Mbalia
You know when you pick a book up, start reading, and immediately know that it’s going to be a five star read? Yeah, that’s what happened when I read Tristan Strong. I read the first few chapters and just knew I was going to love it. This was such a wonderful story and Tristan is probably one of my favorite middle grade protagonists of all time 💕

I loved The Enchanted Forest Chronicles when I was a kid, too! Nothing better than a princess who runs away and doesn’t want to get married. I definitely need to start reading these to my daughter.
