#5OnMyTBR – Aliens

#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook where you chose five books from your to-be-read pile that fit that week’s theme. If you’d like more info, head over to the announcement post!

Hello, reader!

It’s Monday, it’s rainy here near Boston, and it’s time for another 5 On My TBR! Today, we’ll be exploring the stars and talking about books that involve aliens. It wasn’t too hard to find five books that are on my TBR that features extraterrestrials because I do love sci-fi, but I don’t pick it up nearly enough. I don’t know why… I typically fall in love with the sci-fi books I do pick up. It’s just so hard to drag me away from fantasy 😂

But enough rambling! Let’s get to the post!

#1. The Sound of Stars by Alechia Dow

I’ve wanted to read this book since it came out because it sounds like something I would love! There’s a secret library, an alien who loves human music, and DRAMA! I mean, I was immediately hooked just because of the secret library aspect, lol. I honestly haven’t heard much about this book, but what I have heard makes me think I’m going to absolutely love it.

Also, the cover is so pretty 😍

#2. Skyward by Brandon Sanderson

The main reason this book is on my TBR is because Brandon Sanderson is one of my favorite authors. The fact that this sounds like it’s going to be epic certainly helps, though! In this one, the aliens aren’t so friendly and our main character wants nothing more than to be able to join the fight against them. It sounds like it would be a fun and fast-paced read and I can’t wait to pick it up!

#3. Sky Without Stars by Jessica Brody & Joanne Rendell

This book is kind of cheat because I don’t actually know if there are aliens in it. I’m just assuming because it’s set in space 😅 But I’m not not including this because it’s basically Les Mis set in space and, even though I have yet to read the source material, I freakin’ love books based off of it. And it’s a sci-fi! Gimmie! It sounds like it’s going to be absolutely epic, too, so even better. I mean, there’s gonna be a revolution! I can’t wait to read this.

#4. Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card

One of the classics that I would like to get to sooner rather than later is Ender’s Game and it definitely fits this #5OnMYTBR! The aliens in this are trying to destroy humans and our main character has been genetically bred to help fight them off. I honestly don’t know much else about this book, lol. Still, it’s a classic sci-fi that has been on my TBR for ages. Hopefully I love it when I finally get to it!

#5. Armada by Ernest Cline

Another TBR vet that I really need to get to soon! I bought this book soon after reading Ready Player One, which is by the same author, because I loved it so much. This is, of course, different from that sci-fi world, but the gaming aspect continues. This time, a video game veteran has to use his skills when an alien force attacks the Earth. If this is even half as good as RPO, I know I’m going to love it!

What are some books featuring aliens on your TBR that you can’t wait to read? Have you read any of the books on mine? Let me know in the comments!

And, as always, happy reading!

  1. I don’t read many sci-fi space adventures either, Kerri. So much so that I haven’t got a single title on my TBR! But like you, I have enjoyed the ones I have read. Lol!

  2. Been meaning to read Sound of the Stars. I’ve heard overwhelmingly good things. Inside a Silver Box by Walter Mosley and The Owls Have Come to Take Us Away by Ronald L. Smith are on my TBR.
