Current Reads

• Lord Edgware Dies by Agatha Christie: That’s right, I’m finally reading the Poirot book I was supposed to read last month 😂 Our boy Hastings is in this one and I always tend to enjoy Poirot books more when he’s around. There were two different racial slurs on page 20, so that was a yikes, but I’m still having a good time. Will I guess whodunit? Probably not but I’m gonna enjoy the ride!
• The Light at the Bottom of the World by London Shah: I remember when this book came out and was floating around in my periphery. I was intrigued, but ended up never picking it up. Now I’ve signed up for a blog tour for the second book, so I figured it was about time I read this one, right? I’m currently listening to the audiobook and loving it! The descriptions of this underwater London are otherworldly and so vivid, I can picture myself there. I’m eager to finish this one and move on to the next.

Recently Finished

• Heartstopper Vol 1 by Alice Oseman: I originally read this graphic novel as a webcomic on Tapas and knew I needed to own a physical copy for myself. The volumes that are out have been sitting on my shelf for awhile and I picked this one up as a switch for one of my Magical Readathon prompts. Now all I want to read are the other volumes I own 😅 It’s such a cute story! I love Nick and Charlie and want nothing but great things for them.
• Shadow-Stained by Rachel Hobbs: I recently finished this one for a blog tour. It was a quick and intriguing paranormal fantasy that I enjoyed! There were a few sticking points for me, but, overall, it was a fun ride. You can check out my full review here!

What’s Next

• My Heart is a Chainsaw by Stephen Graham Jones: I picked this book up from the library on a whim when I was there to grab my holds. Which happens frequently, lol. But it’s seems like the perfect October read and I’ve been wanting to read more from Stephen Graham Jones after loving Mongrels. I’m also interested to see his take on the final girl trope. Here’s hoping it’s a great, thrilling read 🤞🏾
• The Book of Uriel by Elyse Hoffman: This is a book I’m reading for another blog tour and I’m trying to make sure I pick it up before, ya know, the week of 😅 It’s a historical fiction featuring Jewish folklore. It sounds like it’s going to be an intriguing, dark tale as a young boy tries to free the angel, Michael in a land corrupted by the Nazi. I’m sure it’s going to make me cry, but I’m excited to give it a read.
