It’s time for a new round of Down the TBR Hole! This is where I go through my Goodreads ‘Want to Read’ shelf and do a bit of cleaning up. If you want to see the full description of what this post is all about, check out my first round HERE.

Today, I’m doing another round of Down the TBR Hole! At the end of round twelve, my Goodreads Want to Read shelf had been (re)narrowed down to 654 books. Where am I standing currently? 655 books. Only one added! It’s some kind of miracle 😂
I think we’re diving into the part of my Goodreads TBR that I genuinely remember adding all the books I’m coming across. Which makes me wonder if the amount I remove is gonna start dropping. After all, if I remember adding the book, it’s probably because I added it for a good reason, right? Of course, I’m sure there will be some that I’m just no longer interested in after adding them years ago. We shall see!
Now, let’s get into round thirteen.
Eyes Like Stars by Lisa Mantchev
Though I remember adding this book, I certainly didn’t remember the synopsis! Upon reading, however, I know this one will be staying. A book about characters from all the plays acted on stage that are bound to a magical theater? And it more than likely has various references to the works of Shakespeare? Sign me up! This sounds absolutely magical.

Kushiel’s Dart by Jacqueline Carey
This is one of those books that I was interested in at one point, but the interest has waned. It sounds like it could be epic, featuring an courtesan assassin who discovers a plot that could change her entire world. But I’m really not looking to start yet another series and this book is… not small. She thicc. So, I might pick this up at some point in the distant future, but, for now…

I love travel books.
And I love Michael Palin.

Hamilton: The Revolution by Lin-Manuel Miranda
Beyond the fact that I own this book so of course it gets to stay, there’s no way I’m not reading a book about one of my favorite Broadway musicals. I might read it as I’m listening to the soundtrack for the 5103650256 time. Also, I love the pictures in this book (I have flipped through!). So this book is like a win-win-win.

The Animal Dialogues by Craig Childs
This book is a collection of the essays about the author’s encounters with wild animals. And it sounds absolutely fascinating! I love nature documentaries, I love books about nature, so this seems like a no-brainer. It also has a ton of great reviews. And look at that gorgeous puma on the cover. How could I not want to read it?

The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly
This is another book I remember adding, but couldn’t remember the synopsis to save my life. Having read it, though, this sounds like something I would love. A young boy who’s mother has died loses himself in a fantasy world. It sounds like it would be dark, heart-felt, and probably make me cry a little. I definitely want to read it!

Bossypants by Tina Fey
I mentioned in an earlier round of Down the TBR Hole that I added a lot of memoirs to my TBR awhile ago for reasons I can’t remember. Memoirs really aren’t my thing. And, though I do like Tina Fey, I’m not that interested in her life story. Even though I know this book will probably be quite humorous, too. I’m just not feeling it.
Verdict: Remove
A Natural History of Dragons by Marie Brennan
I actually own this book so the verdict here is a foregone conclusion! But the fact that it’s about a young woman who dreams of being a naturalist and studying, you guessed it, dragons means that it would’ve stayed whether or not I owned it. This sounds like something I would love and I’m eager to pick it up!

The Invisible Libraryby Genevieve Cogman
Look, this book features one of my favorite tropes. It’s a book featuring or about books! What can I say, I like the meta-ness of it all. So, though I’m “meh” when it comes to steampunk and this is, yet again, the first book in a series, I think it has to stay. Give me all the books about books, please! Also, it has a lot of great reviews, so color me intrigued.

The Altogether Unexpected Disappearance of Atticus Craftsman by Mamen Sánchez
That title is a mouthful 😂 But we have yet another book about books and this one includes travel to Spain! I’ve always wanted to go to Spain (definitely on the bucket list) so I love reading books set there. This sounds like this would be a fun and fast-paced romp featuring bookish people and I’m here for it!

Haaaa… only two removed 😅 At this point, I’m probably going to have to admit to myself that I will never actually read all the books on my TBR. Unless I quit my job and read 24/7. Or, ya know, haunt a library once I die. Probably gonna have to be the latter cause ya girl needs her job! Still, there were a lot of great books in this round where my desire to read them has been rekindled. Sigh… so many books, so little time.
