The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Crazy-For-Books and is currently being hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. Every Friday, a new question is posted for book bloggers to answer in the coming week. The purpose of the hop is connection and community. You can discover new blogs to follow, new books to read, and you may end up with some new followers, as well!
Hello, reader!
It’s time for another Book Blogger Hop! I’m loving the creepy, spooky theme that’s been happening in October and this week’s question is no exception. It’s also kind of a difficult one that delves into two of the classics of horror. Have I stirred your curiosity? Then let’s get to the post!
This Week’s Question

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein VS. Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Which classic story is scarier?
Submitted by Billy @ Coffee Addicted Writer.
Oof, what a question! First of all, I’m pretty proud of myself for having read both of these classics. I have a very touch-and-go relationship with classics. But how could I, someone who loves horror movies, not read two of the most popular horror novels of all time?
That being said, I don’t know that either one of these particularly scared me. I suppose the concept of Frankenstein is scarier, in theory. The fact that someone would just play with life and death like that… definitely creepy. Fascinating, but creepy 😂 I did enjoy the novel, as well, even if Frankenstein is kind of the woooooorst. How you gonna “make” a person and then just abandon them? Not cool. I wasn’t a big fan of the ending, but I didn’t want to take a nap as I read, so that’s a win for me!
As for Dracula, it definitely didn’t scare me. Vampires never really have. Honestly, the scary movie monsters that has always made me shiver the most are zombies.
Which… I guess… explains why I think Frankenstein is a tad bit scarier 🤔
Anyways! All that aside, I have to say that I enjoyed Dracula more than I did Frankenstein. I don’t know if it was the epistolary style or all the freakin’ ✨drama✨, but I loved this classic! Jonathon is an idiot and there was some weird stuff that goes down (even beyond, ya know, the vampire), but I was completely wrapped up in this story.
So, I suppose, for scares, I’m going with Frankenstein. But for enjoyment, it’s gotta be Dracula!
Have you read these two classics? Which one do you think is the most scary? Let me know in the comments!
And, as always, happy reading!
