Book Blogger Hop: Feb 26 – Mar 3

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Crazy-For-Books and is currently being hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. Every Friday, a new question is posted for book bloggers to answer in the coming week. The purpose of the hop is connection and community. You can discover new blogs to follow, new books to read, and you may end up with some new followers, as well!

This Week’s Question

Do you acknowledge publication days for books you have read with a blog or social media post?

Submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews.

I used to much better about this when I first started blogging 😅

I have nothing to say in my defense except, when it comes to books, my eyes are always bigger than my… stomach? Reading capacity? I see all these exciting, shiny new books that sound incredible and suddenly find myself on Netgalley, going on a requesting spree. Or signing up for all the blog tours. I have a problem, y’all! This problem usually leads to me acquiring all these books with the intention of reading them before they are published and only being able to get to handful. And then the guilt sets in.

I suppose the solution to this is still posting about the book on it’s publication date, whether I’ve read it or not. I always, always post a review once I’ve read it, so it’s not like I’m going to talk about it on pub day and forget it exists. I think that guilt is what prevents me because I should have read it and I feel bad that I haven’t yet.

Ya know what, though? This question has inspired me to get over that guilt and promote as much as I can, even if I haven’t finished the book by the publication day. It’s only fair, I think, since the publisher/author sent me a copy of the book for that express purpose. I’m also going to try my hardest to get to all my current ARCs before they are actually published. And maybe chill out on the Netgalley requests… Gotta know my limits!
