Top 5 Tuesday is a fun, weekly meme that asks you to pick 5 books that fit that week’s theme. It was created by Bionic Bookworm and is currently being hosted by Meeghan Reads. You should check out their wonderful blog for more details and the list of prompts!
Hello, reader!
It’s time for another Top 5 Tuesday! A new month means a whole new list of prompts and we’re kicking off April with a good one. That’s because, this week, I’ll be talking about my top five most anticipated books that are coming out between April and June! I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t been keeping up with the new releases in 2022 as much as I did last year. It took me a minute to pick through my Want to Read shelf on Goodreads and find the books for this list. But the five that I did find are definitely at the top of my anticipated list!
That being said, let’s dive into the post.
#1. Fevered Star by Rebecca Roanhorse
I can’t start a most anticipated list with anything other than my most anticipated book of 2022! I cannot WAIT to get back into the world that Rebecca Roanhorse created in Black Sun. Especially after that ending. I need to know what happens with Xiala and Serapio, dangit! I’m so hyped for this book and I’ll be reading it as soon as it comes out.
Release Date: April 19, 2022
#2. The Marvellers by Dhonielle Clayton
Give me all the magical school stories by BIPOC authors pleeeease! This book sounds absolutely incredible. It sounds whimsical and diverse and like it’s going to be a wonderful ride. I haven’t read anything by Dhonielle Clayton as of yet, but I’ve wanted to for a hot minute. When I saw this was coming out, I figured there was no better time than now!
Release Date: May 3, 2022
#3. Juniper & Thorn by Ava Reid
I didn’t know this book existed until the author posted a quote on Twitter. Immediately after reading said quote, I went to Netgalley to see if it was available for request. I was shocked when I actually got approved! This sounds witchy and dark and I’m so excited to read it. I’m hoping to get to it soon. I feel like it’s going to prematurely put me in a Fall kind of mood and I ain’t mad about it.
Release Date: May 24, 2022
#4. The Merciless Ones by Namina Forna
This is another one of my most anticipated reads of 2022! The sequel to The Gilded Ones, which was one of my favorite reads of last year, promises to be even more epic than the first one! We come back to a world at war and I can’t wait to see how Deka and her friends get through this. It sounds like it’s going to be brutal and just as cinematic. It’s going to be incredible!
Release Date: May 31, 2022
#5. A Mirror Mended by Alix E. Harrow
Last year, I picked A Spindle Splintered on a whim after spotting it at my library. I’m so glad I did because I had such a good time with that book! I do love a fairytale retelling and that one was top tier. So, of course the next book in the series is going to be one of my most anticipated reads! Where the last book was a Sleeping Beauty retelling, this one is wandering into Snow White territory. I’m excited to give it a read!
Release Date: June 14, 2022

I’m so jealous you got approved for Juniper and Thorn! It wasn’t available for me in my region!

Aww, that sucks! I’m priviledged to get access to a lot of books, though I hardly ever get approved, lol. I hope you get to read it soon, though!
