The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Crazy-For-Books and is currently being hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. Every Friday, a new question is posted for book bloggers to answer in the coming week. The purpose of the hop is connection and community. You can discover new blogs to follow, new books to read, and you may end up with some new followers, as well!
This Week’s Question
Are you able to choose your favorite books?
Submitted by Julie @ Stepping Stone Book Reviews.
Hahahaha, me? With my indecisive brain? Asking me to chook a favorite book out of the many books I’ve loved is like asking me to pick a favorite kid! Although, the question does say “books”, as in more than one book, so that’s less of a burden.
I have lots of books that I’ve loved over the years. Lots of five star reads that had me wrapped up in their worlds. And, yet, I think the impact of even a five star read can fade over time. So I could call a book my favorite one year and then, three years down the line, not remember a single thing about it. That could just be me and my terrible memory… but there’s always some new, fresher five star there to fill in.
However, there have been five star reads that have stuck with me for years. Books I love so much that the memory of their worlds, of reading them for the first time still hasn’t fade. They are few and far between and, for the most part, from my childhood. Books like The Enchanted Forest Chronicles by Patricia C. Wrede or All Creatures Great and Small by James Herriot and The Westing Game by Ellen Raskin. Those three will be forever favorites! In more recent years, I’ve read a few books that I think will stand the test of time. Books like The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern or Raybearer by Jordan Ifueko. I guess I won’t know until years down the road, but those both left an impact on me that I think will stretch on through time.
So, I guess what I’m saying is that, yes, I can pick favorite books. I just never know if they will be forever favorites or not.
