#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook where you chose five books from your to-be-read pile that fit that week’s theme. If you’d like more info, head over to the announcement post!
Hello, reader!
It’s the beginning of another week, which means it’s time for another 5 On My TBR! This week, I’m focusing on books that feature secrets. Which was a lot harder to narrow down than I thought it was going to be. It seems like people having secrets in the books I want to read is quite common! Still, it was fun shifting through my TBR to choose the five I wanted to feature.
That being said, let’s go ahead and get to my list!
#1. Cherish Farrah by Bethany C. Morrow
It seems like thrillers/horror books are a good place to go if you’re looking for secrets. I’ve been wanting to read this social horror book for awhile because it sounds like it would probably terrify me. It also definitely sounds like a certain set of adoptive parents definitely have something they’re hiding 👀 I also really need to read a Bethany C. Morrow book. I’ve had her on my TBR for ages and have yet to pick up one of her novels! I need to get on that.
#2. The Stardust Thief by Chelsea Abdullah
Another genre that tends to be rife with secrets: fantasy! Which is probably why my TBR is filled with books that contain secrets, haha. Y’all know how much I love fantasy! This is one that I’ve been eager to read since hearing about it on Twitter. It has djinn and thieves and most definitely secrets! It seems like one of those books where every character is hiding something. I can’t wait to read it!
#3. The Woman in the Library by Sulari Gentill
And now we have a thriller! I found this book while poking around on Goodreads, as one does, and the synopsis sounded right up my alley. It’s set in Boston! It happens in the Boston Public Library! There’s a random scream and one of the main characters in the story, all of whom are stuck sitting at a table together while waiting for security to give the all clear, may be a murderer. So there are definitely secrets involved in this one. It sounds like something I’m going to absolutely love.
#4. The Blood Trials by N.E. Davenport
Back to fantasy and another book that I’m very eager to read. This is a fantasy and sci-fi mix that features a young woman who has many secrets. Her biggest one, however, is that she possesses blood magic. I’ve been hearing more and more people talking about this book since it’s release and it definitely has me intrigued. It sounds epic in all the best ways! And I absolutely love the cover 😍
#5. Hotel Magnifique by Emily J. Taylor
The synopsis for this book said that it’s for fans of The Night Circus, so you know I was instantly on-board! It also mentions the many secrets of the titular hotel, so it definitely has a place on this list. It sounds like it will be a twisty and compelling fantasy that will have me on my toes. At least, that’s what I’m hoping for after reading the full synopsis! It helps that this one also has a stunning cover. I’m a sucker for a pretty book!
What are some books featuring secrets on your TBR? Have you read any of the books on mine? Let me know in the comments!
And, as always, happy reading!
Oh I’m quite curious for Hotel Magnifique, but similar books didn’t capture me unfortunately.

It certainly sounds interesting, doesn’t it? Perhaps this one will be better, but you can’t help what you like and don’t like, right? There’s plenty of other books out there!
