This Week’s Question
Which do you think is more likely – clean utopia or frenzied dystopia?
Submitted by Julie @ Stepping Stone Book Reviews.
Well, this is certainly an interesting question! The optimistic side of me would love to lean towards a clean utopia. I like to have hope that humanity, at some point, can set aside our differences and work towards a beneficial future for all of us. The current state of the world, however, doesn’t seem like it is heading down the utopia road. At this point, I would say a bleak, dystopian future is much more likely.
Now, when it comes to reading, I have to say that I enjoy books that have a utopia more, but that’s not for the reasons some might think. After all, most of the books I’ve read that feature a supposed “utopia” usually have something darker lurking under the surface and that’s what I love to read! I love reading about the slow unraveling as people realize their perfect world isn’t quite as perfect as they thought. Especially if there’s an uprising involved! I do love a good uprising.
Besides, dystopian books hit a little too close to home these days…
