The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Crazy-For-Books and is currently being hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. Every Friday, a new question is posted for book bloggers to answer in the coming week. The purpose of the hop is connection and community. You can discover new blogs to follow, new books to read, and you may end up with some new followers, as well!
This Week’s Question
Do you post your reviews before publication day or what until close to or on the publication date?
Submitted by Elizabeth @ Silver’s Reviews.
I used to be on top of the ball when it came to posting reviews close to or on the publication date. Then my Netgalley requests out-stripped my reading speed and… yeeeeeahhhh 😅 I strive to make sure my review goes up as close to the release date as possible, but that’s definitely not always the case.
I think another thing that threw me off was, when I first got on Netgalley and was reading and reviewing e-ARCs, I would post my review as soon as I was done with the book. This was before my note-taking days and I knew I would forget everything about the book if I didn’t write a review ASAP! Then, I came to realize that some publishers preferred (and even requested) that you post the review close to publication date. I started holding off reading my e-ARCs until the release dates got closer. Then I started getting more into blogging and especially blog tours. Suddenly I had all these books I wanted and needed to read and I would kinda started forgetting to double check release dates for books! It was a slippery slope from there.
I’m back to trying to be more cognizant of release dates for all my ARCs, now, but I’m definitely a work in progress!
I’ve started reading my Net Galley books mainly in publication date order (or at least by month) and that’s helped me to be a bit more organised about reading books before they get published.

That’s a smart idea. That’s something I need to do, as well.
