Book Blogger Hop: Jul 29 – Aug 4

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Crazy-For-Books and is currently being hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. Every Friday, a new question is posted for book bloggers to answer in the coming week. The purpose of the hop is connection and community. You can discover new blogs to follow, new books to read, and you may end up with some new followers, as well!

This Week’s Question

If you are listening to an audiobook, do you follow along with the print version?

Ya know, this was not something I ever considered doing. Not because I don’t like the idea of it but because it just never crossed my mind!

Usually, when I’m reading a book, I stick to one format. I will switch it up when one format is not working for me. For example, if I’m reading a book physically and it’s just not holding my attention, I’ll try picking up the audiobook. Or if I’m not vibing with an audiobook, I’ll try and pick it up physically. But I never thought to try reading along physically while listening to the audiobook. I don’t know if that would help or hinder my already pretty shaky attention span 😅

I think it would be something I could enjoy, but only in certain circumstances. For instance, reading along with an audiobook that has a lot of atmospheric sounds or music. It would set the tone so much better than just reading the book physically! Or when a book has a podcast as part of the story, like the horror/thriller series Six Stories by Matt Wesolowski. Or if there are multiple narrators for different characters. In short, I think it would enhance the experience if it’s not just someone reading the story straight. Otherwise, it might be a bit of overload for my brain, haha.

Also, I tend to listen to audiobooks when I’m doing an activity that would prevent from picking up a physical book, anyways 🤷🏾‍♀️

  1. That’s how I am – I listen to audiobooks when I’m sewing, knitting, or crocheting. I used to listen to them at night, but found myself missing half the story because I’d fall asleep. LOL
