#5OnMyTBR – Title Starts With B

#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted by E. @ Local Bee Hunter’s Nook where you chose five books from your to-be-read pile that fit that week’s theme. If you’d like more info, head over to the announcement post!

Hello, reader!

I apologize for my absence the last few days. If you follow me on Twitter, you might know that the dreaded Covid finally got me 😣 I have to say that it hasn’t been terrible… mostly coughing and fevers… but the fatigue has hit especially hard these last few days. Today is the first time I’ve been out of bed for an extended period of time and it feels marvelous! I took a shower, ate food that wasn’t soup, actually booted up the desktop… and I feel human again.

Now that I can stay awake for longer than ten minutes, I figured it was time to give my poor, neglected blog some love! And what better way to do that than with a fun 5 On My TBR post! This week’s theme is books with titles that start with ‘B’ and, oof, was it hard to pick just five. Know that the ones that I picked are ones that I’m very eager to read soon!

That said, let’s get to the list.

#1. Be Dazzled by Ryan La Sala

I have had this book on my TBR for what feels like ages. I won a copy of it right before it came out and have been wanting to read it ever since! It’s about a young, gay man who enters a cosplay contest and finds himself partnered with the boy who broke his heart. It sounds like it would be a lot of fun, with a lot of sparkle. I’m hoping to pick it up soon because I’d also love to read, La Sala’s most recent release, The Honeys. Not that I have to read them in order… but I want to.

#2. Beast of Prey by Ayana Gray

This is another book that I’ve wanted to read since before it came out. I absolutely love the new cover! The old cover was beautiful, as well, but this one is just 😍 The book follows two Black teenagers tracking down a monster in a magical jungle. Does that not sound like a thrill a minute?! It’s also the beginning to a series, which might be why I’ve taken so long to pick it up. There are just so many series that I’m reading right now. Still, I can’t wait to add this one to the list.

#3. Beneath Cruel Fathoms by Anela Deen

This book got onto my radar because I was a BBNYA 2021 panelist and this was one of the entrants. Quite a few of my fellow panelists read this and loved it, so that naturally piqued my interest! It looks and sounds like a book I would enjoy, as well. It has magic and mermaids and folklore. In a nutshell, it sounds like a high seas adventure that will have me completely captivated! Now I just need to find the time to read it, haha.

#4. Bonds of Chaos by Zack Argyle

Bonds of Chaos is the last book in a self-published trilogy that I have ben loving! So far, the second book is my favorite, but that just makes me even more eager to pick up the third one. Zack Argyle’s writing just gets better and better with each installment, so I imagine this book is gonna blow me away. I love the world he has created but the best part has to be the characters. I’ve found myself attached to quite a few of them and I can’t wait to see how their journeys end!

#5. Book Lovers by Emily Henry

I’ve got a lot of Emily Henry books on my TBR. Like… an embarrassing amount, lol. Still, this romance is the one that catches my interest the most. It features a literary agent and a book editor who, I’m assuming, fall in love. I’ve heard good thing about this one, it has bookish themes, and it is the most recent Emily Henry (for now). I’m thinking I’ll like this one, but I just need to find the time to pick it up. Then I can maybe catch up on her backlist, haha.

What are some books with titles that start with ‘B’ on your TBR? Have you read any of the books on mine? Let me know in the comments!

And, as always, happy reading!

  1. I have to read all of Emily Henry’s books… I own all her books but have read none yet? Why am I like this? 🥲 I’ve also been meaning to read Beast of Prey for *so* long now and haven’t gotten around to it for some reason. If you’re up for it, maybe we can do a buddy read (whenever) so we’re motivated to pick it up? Lol, just lmk! Also, I loved Beneath Cruel Fathoms! I can’t wait to read the next book in the series 😍

    • I’m like that with Riley Sager 😂 I own all of his books and haven’t read a single one! I would love to have a buddy read of Beast of Prey with you, Dini! I have to acquire the book first, but perhaps in November? Ooo, now I really need to pick up Beneath Cruel Fathoms.
