The Ultimate Recommendations Book Tag

Hello, reader!

Today is a good day for a tag, no? I certainly think so! I was recently tagged by Danni @ _ForBooksSake in the Ultimate Recommendations Book Tag. This tag was created by Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx and it looked like too much fun to pass up. Let’s hope I do better with these recommendations than when people ask me in real life. Then, I usually freeze up and forget every book I’ve ever read 😂

Before I get to my post, if you haven’t checked out Danni’s blog, you should definitely give it a peek! She has a lot of great content, especially if you’re into thrillers and horror. And she’s also an incredibly be talented artist. Go give her a follow cause she rocks!

Now, let’s get to the tag!

Rules:

  • Thank the person who nominated you (Thanks, Danni!)
  • Answer all the questions down below
  • Pingback to the creator: Ellyn @ Allonsythornraxx
  • Nominate 5+ bloggers to do this tag

Prompts:

1 – A book from one of your favorite genres

The Fifth Season by N.K. Jemisin

I’m probably not gonna shut up about this book for a good long while 😂I loved it so much! It’s a fantasy with flavorings of sci-fi that is absolutely captivating. It’s raw and dark and so compelling I found it hard to put it down! Excellent world-building, fascinating characters, and incredible writing all combined to make a book I won’t soon forget!

2 – A short book

A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers

Dex and Mosscap deserve all the rights forever and I will be hearing NO ARGUMENTS. I adored this short little book but my favorite part was definitely the characters. They brought such heart and joy to this story! Becky Chambers has a way of writing a book that just makes it so freakin’ cozy. Everything about this, from Dex striking out into the world as a tea monk to them meeting Mosscap, combined into a story that feels like a warm hug ❤

3 – A book-to-screen adaption

The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien

I’m gonna steal Danni’s answer because, honestly, is there a better adaptation than the Lord of the Rings movies? The three LotR movies directed by Peter Jackson are damn near perfection! I think it’s even more astonishing that all three of them are so freakin’ good. One, sure. Two, that’s pretty impressive. But all three?! Pure magic. To this day, I can still quote whole scenes from any of the movies off the cuff. I really want to re-watch them all now…

The 12 Challenge: 12 months, 12 books, 12 friends

Hello, reader!

If you spend anytime in the online bookish community, you probably already know what this post is about. You probably saw a certain graphic floating around the internet at the beginning of 2022. If not, let me give you a peek at the beautiful template made by @shadowbooker over on Instagram!

Image

This graphic/challenge prompts you to read 12 books that have been recommended to you by 12 friends. It sounded like fun (and was literally everywhere), so I figured I would give it a shot! So, through a mix of both online and IRL friends and family, I cobbled together a TBR of twelve recommendations that I wish to read in 2022.

My 12 Challenge

First, I want to say “Thank you!” to everyone who gave me a recommendation! I made sure to ask for books beyond my usual SFF realm and y’all certainly delivered. I think I have a good mix of SFF, mystery/thriller, and romance going on here and that’s exactly what I asked for. I do love my fantasy and science fiction, but 2022 feels like a good year to try and branch out a little more. That being said, let’s take a look at the books that I ended up choosing from all your wonderful recommendations ❤

Book Blogger Hop: May 15 – 21

The Book Blogger Hop was originally created by Crazy-For-Books and is currently being hosted by Coffee Addicted Writer. Every Friday, a new question is posted for book bloggers to answer in the coming week. The purpose of the hop is connection and community. You can discover new blogs to follow, new books to read, and you may end up with some new followers, as well!

This Week’s Question

This week’s prompt submitted by Flora @ Flora’s Musings…

Okay, so… my TBR has gotten even more ridiculous since joining the world of book bloggers. Mostly because I’m now following a lot more blogs than I did before! I’ve gotten a lot of suggestions for books that I think I will adore.

Have I read these books? Hahahaha… no 😬

I have intentions to get to them! Eventually. But I’ve been very focused on keeping up on ARCs and doing blog tours and chipping away at all the books I already own. So I can’t honestly think of a book I’ve recently that I picked up because of a book blogger’s suggestion. I think the closest would probably be The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo because literally EVERYONE suggested I read that book 😂 (Thank you, btw!)

Now, the list of books I plan on reading because of the various wonderful bloggers that I follow, that list would be extensive. And ask me this same question next year and I’m sure I’ll have read at least a couple, heh.

What was the last book you read because of a blogger’s suggestion? Did you enjoy it? Let me know in the comments!

And, as always, happy reading!
