Current Reads

  • Cursed in Love by Zoe Ashwood: I have been “reading” this for a minute now, but I have to be honest and say that I put it down for awhile. Not because I wasn’t enjoying it! This reverse harem paranormal fantasy has been such a wild ride so far. I put it down because I was feeling a bit of a burnout with paranormal books because I read quite a few back to back to back. Now that I’ve had a bit of a breather, I’ve dived back in and I am loving it!
  • Rogue Protocol by Martha Wells: I’m continuing my reread of the Murderbot series and, so far, this book is just as much of a good time as the first two. I could probably read about Murderbot watching TV for a week and still love it, lol. I adore their character and their thought processes and their wit. I’m really looking forward to getting to the full length novel of this series because getting to hang out with Murderbot for more than a 150 pages sounds incredible.

Current Reads

  • Kings of the Wyld by Nicholas Eames: This is a book that has been on my TBR since it was released. I loved the concept of a band of adventures being treated like a rock band! So far, the author is pulling it off in a way that has me laughing and completely stuck into the story. I love the characters, the world, and the plot so far and I’m excited to continue!
  • A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness: I’ve had this book on my TBR longer than I can remember, honestly. And I’m sure it had made its way to a few monthly TBRs but I never picked it up. I finally decided to crack it open and, so far, I’m glad I did! I’m enjoying the scholarly setting and the interesting world. Not sure how I’m gonna feel about the vampire, yet, but time will tell, haha.

The Girl Who Drank the Moon by Kelly Barnhill

I just picked this up and I’m already captivated by this story! This is the Middle Grade Marvels pick for March. And, yes, I know there are only two days left in March, but I think I’ll fly through this! The writing in this is incredible and I find myself completely pulled into the world the author has created. I’ve honestly not heard a bad thing about this book and I’m starting to see why! I’m excited to read more and (hopefully) finish it soon.

Witches Steeped in Gold by Ciannon Smart

If you remember seeing me talk about reading this book before, you have a good memory. I picked this up last year (or the year before… I can’t remember) and ended up DNFing it. I was 100 pages in and just so bored! The imagery was incredible, the characters were interesting, but it felt like nothing was happening. I wanted to give it another chance because I did like the writing so much. So far, the audiobook seems to be the way to go because I’m having a much better time this go-around!

  • Bloodlaced by Courtney Maguire: I’m reading this book for a blog tour currently running for all the finalists of last year’s Book Bloggers’ Novel of the Year Awards. I have to say, I can see why this was a finalist because it is intensely readable. It has some dark themes and hard topics, so definitely check trigger warnings before jumping in. The way the author has built this world and the characters that populate it has me captivated. I’m flying through this, which is always a good sign! My full review will be coming soon, so keep an eye out for that.
  • One Dark Window by Rachel Gilling: I just picked this up as it’s my 12 friends, 12 recommendations read for the month and, wow, I’m already hooked! It’s a problem because I want to reading this and Bloodlaced at the same time 😂 The world is so rich in this book, so far, and I can already tell I’m going to love our main character, Elspeth. I’m so glad this was my pick for the month cause I feel like I’m going to love it!

Current Reads

  • Finlay Donovan Jumps the Gun by Elle Cosimano: The third book in the Finlay Donovan series is proving to be just as fun as the first two. Fun, but also really pushing that suspension of disbelief, ya know? I can feel myself growing bored with this concept of a suburban mom tangling with the Russian mob and, somehow, not being brutally murdered. I mean, I’m not done with the book so who knows but I get the feeling her pluck and terrible decisions will carry her through. It was fine in the first book but, as the stakes get higher, it gets a lot more eye-roll inducing 😅
  • Appointment with Death by Agatha Christie: I’m back on my Poirot journey! I found the next three books in the series at the library and it felt like a sign. I’m almost halfway through the book and, beyond a brief appearance at the very beginning, Poirot hasn’t even shown up yet! We’re getting a lot of build up to the murder that really feels like justification for the murder, haha. Still, I’m intrigued to see where this goes, as in who eventually murders Mrs. Boynton and how Poirot will figure it out.

Current Reads

  • Sacrifice by Vicky Walklate: I’m reading this to kick off the blog tours for the finalists of last year’s Book Bloggers’ Novel of the Year Award! I didn’t get to read this one as a panelist, so I was excited to sign up for the tour to get a chance to pick it up. So far, it’s definitely captured my interest! I’m liking the worldbuilding and the characters and I’m eager to read more.
  • Finlay Donovan is Killing It by Elle Cosimano: I picked this up on a whim because it became available on Scribd. And also because I’ve been hearing about this series everywhere. Having listened to the first few chapters, I can see why this is so popular! This is such a fun read for a book that is basically about murder. The narrator is also doing an incredible job which is making the experience that much more enjoyable.

  • Good Girl, Bad Blood by Holly Jackson: I’m finally continuing with the A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder series! So far, I’m enjoying the second book. I can tell it’s going to pull me in just as easily as the first book did. I had to set it aside to get some tour books read, but I’m eager to pick it back up! I’m only a few chapters in and things are already getting intense. I’m excited to see where this new story goes.
  • Slappy, Beware by R.L. Stine: I’ve finally picked up my first read off of my 12 friends, 12 recommendations TBR! I have all the books on that list in a TBR jar and this was the lucky one I drew out for January. I’m only a couple of chapters in, but the nostalgia is already hitting hard, haha. I was a big fan of R.L. Stine when I was a kid and this is bringing back memories! I don’t think I ever read any of the Slappy books (because evil puppets freak me out…) so it’ll be interesting to see how I like this one compared to the other Goosebumps books I’ve read.

  • Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake: I’m about a halfway through this romance and, y’all, I am hooked! Delilah is such an incredible character as is her love interest, Claire. The pining is fantastic, the little looks and gestures make me want to melt, and I’m so excited to see these two finally realize how much they are into each other. I’m also loving the background story that is developing right alongside the romance. There’s a lot going on and I’m here for every bit of it!
  • Heart of the Sun Warrior by Sue Lynn Tan: I started to listening to the audiobook of this because it popped up on Scribd and I’ve been eager to read it for a minute. It helps that it’s on my Netgalley shelf and I’m really trying to trim this down. It’s been a few months since I read Daughter of the Moon Goddess but I was instantly sucked back into the world. Sue Lynn Tan’s writing is just sublime and makes the entire reading experience like watching a movie. I’m a good way in and it’s getting intense. I’m excited to continue!

  • Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney: I’m reading this with a group of bookish friends. I think the general consensus is that we don’t trust anyone and are loving it! I absolutely loved how much this feels like And Then There Were None. The atmosphere is top-notch, the writing has sucked me in, and I’m finding it hard to stick to the book club reading schedule 😂 It helps that I have so many other books on the go, at the moment. Still, I can’t wait to continue!
  • The Hatmakers by Tamzin Merchant: I’m reading this cute middle grade with the Middle Grade Marvels group and I’m having a blast. This is such a fun and unique story, so far. I love the Hatmakers, Cordelia most of all. She’s feisty and smart and ambitious. I’m also loving the illustrations inside the book. I think this will continue to be a great read!
