It’s time for another First Lines Friday! This is another work weekend for me after a week filled with overtime, but, happy news… I got a promotion at work! So I’m feeling a bit more optimistic about working over 7 days in a row 😂 In celebration, I want to talk about a book that I am truly enjoying at the start to this weekend. I’m reading it for a TBR & Beyond Tours book tour and absolutely tearing through it!

The first lines certainly captured my interest. Now to see if they’ll do the same for you!

“I promise I will tell you the truth. But first, I need to lie. It doesn’t make sense yet. It will. Be patient.”

The Hints:

I’m entering my horror era, I think, because this is the third horror I’m picking up this month.

It will be released August 9th.

It features a creepy (and possibly sentient??) house.

Happy Friday! I hope, if you’re not working this weekend, you’re looking forward to a good time. If you are working, like me, I hope the weekend goes quickly and smoothly! Because that’s what I’m hoping for my work weekend, haha. Either way, it’s time for another First Lines Friday post! This week, I’m featuring a book that I’m hoping to pick up tomorrow once I get home.

“The Amazement Park opened in 1953.
GET LOST IN FUN! posters advertised, and it was true: Crowds surged through the gates in the morning and didn’t stumble out again until the sun had set, and spotlights at the exit guided them free.”

This is a horror/thriller set in a theme park.

Hello, reader!

We’ve reached another Friday and I’m ready for a weekend of rest and relaxation! Which means, of course, a ton of reading. I’m hoping to get through a few more books before the month is over. It’s mindboggling to me that’s already almost August 😳 One of the books I’m planning to read this week is also my featured book for First Lines Friday! I’ve already started reading this book and, I have to say, the first line certainly snagged my attention.

Now, we’re gonna see if it can snag yours!

“I was going to kill Zoe.

Happy First Lines Friday! This has been quite the week and I’m working this weekend, but I’m still happy to be chilling at home on this Friday. As I chill, I’ll be picking up a fairly popular book that was picked as a book of the month for one of my Goodreads groups! I’m honestly not sure how I’m going to feel about this one… I’ve loved previous books from this author, but the synopsis doesn’t have me sold.

Let’s see if the first few lines can make me excited to pick this up!

The Line(s):

“Malibu catches fire.
It is simply what Malibu does from time to time.

I’m excited that it’s time for the weekend and I’m excited for another First Lines Friday! This week, I’m featuring a book that is on one of my year long TBRs. I really need to start focusing on those books because the year is already halfway over. That fact is honestly quite mindboggling to me. Still, this romance is one I’ve been aching to read for some time now.

Let’s see if the first few lines can get me even more excited!

The Line(s):

“Eve Brown didn’t keep a diary. She kept a journal. There was a difference.
Diaries were horribly organized and awfully prescriptive. They involved dates and plans and regular entries and the suffocating weight of commitment. Journals, on the other hand, were deliciously wild and lawless things.”

Though I’m sure it’s fairly obvious what this is, it’s the last book in a romance trilogy.

It follows the youngest sibling’s route to love.

Hello, reader!

We made it to the weekend and, for me, it’s a long one! I am a big fan of three day weekends, haha. We don’t have any big plans, but I’m looking forward to relaxing and reading. Preferably outside while I enjoy all the sunshine recently. The book I’m featuring today is one of the books I hope to start this weekend! It’s something that I’ve been wanting to read for a minute and I’m finally picking it up.

It’s been a rough week and I gotta work this weekend, but at least I have this little corner of the internet to take my mind off things. Today, I’m featuring a book that I’m hoping to lose myself in soon! I won it in a giveaway and it sounds like it’s going to be an intriguing read.

We’ve made it to Friday and I, for one, am super happy about it. Things have been chaotic in the McBookNerd household and I need a couple of days to destress. In celebration of the weekend, let’s do another First Lines Friday post! The book I’m featuring this week is a library find that pulled me in with the cover and had me check it out after reading the synopsis.

Happy Friday! I’m about to get ready for another day out with visiting family, but I wanted to sneak in a quick First Lines Friday post. This week, I’m featuring a book I’ve wanted to read for awhile and was recently picked as a book of the month for a Goodreads group I’m in. Perfect excuse to finally pick it up!
