Hello, reader!

We made it to the weekend and, for me, it’s a long one! I am a big fan of three day weekends, haha. We don’t have any big plans, but I’m looking forward to relaxing and reading. Preferably outside while I enjoy all the sunshine recently. The book I’m featuring today is one of the books I hope to start this weekend! It’s something that I’ve been wanting to read for a minute and I’m finally picking it up.

Let’s see if the first few lines can get me even more excited to read it!

The Line(s):

“The two would-be jade thieves sweated in the kitchen of the Twice Lucky restaurant. The windows were open in the dining room, and the onset of evening brought a breeze off the waterfront to cool the diners, but in the kitchen, there were only the two ceiling fans that had been spinning all day to little effect.”

The Hints:

This is an urban fantasy with a mafia-esque vibe.

It’s the first book in a trilogy.

I may have bought the entire trilogy from Illumicrate because the books were so pretty!

It’s Friday and that means it’s time for feature another book in a First Lines Friday post! It’s been a rough week and I gotta work this weekend, but at least I have this little corner of the internet to take my mind off things. Today, I’m featuring a book that I’m hoping to lose myself in soon! I won it in a giveaway and it sounds like it’s going to be an intriguing read.

Let’s see if the first few lines can draw me into the story!

The Line(s):

“The wind has stopped. I sway, suspended in place and holding on by a one-handed grip on the protrusion from the face of the cliff. It is jagged, eroded by the elements, causing the dense mesh of my gloves to dig into the skin of my palm.”

This is a science fiction novel that was released in 2021.

It is self-published.

We’ve made it to Friday and I, for one, am super happy about it. Things have been chaotic in the McBookNerd household and I need a couple of days to destress. In celebration of the weekend, let’s do another First Lines Friday post! The book I’m featuring this week is a library find that pulled me in with the cover and had me check it out after reading the synopsis.

Now, let’s see how the first few lines grab me!

We’ve made it to the end of another week, which means it’s time for First Lines Friday! This week, I’m featuring a book that has been hovering around my radar since it was released. It finally got on my TBR after it was chosen as a book of the month for a Goodreads group I’m in. I’m excited to give it a read!

Now, time to read the first few lines and see if they ramp up my excitement even more.

The Hints:

This is a fantasy centered around Norse mythology.

It has a gorgeous cover which may be half the reason I wanted to read it.

Happy Friday! I’m about to get ready for another day out with visiting family, but I wanted to sneak in a quick First Lines Friday post. This week, I’m featuring a book I’ve wanted to read for awhile and was recently picked as a book of the month for a Goodreads group I’m in. Perfect excuse to finally pick it up!

Now, here’s hoping the first few lines make me even more excited to give it a go.

“The Greer mansion sat high on a hill, overlooking the town and the ocean. To get to it from downtown, you had to leave the pretty shops and creaking seaside piers and drive a road that wound upward, toward the cliffs. We’ve made it to another Friday, which means it’s time for one of my favorite posts, First Lines Friday! This week, I’m featuring a book that I recently spotted at the library and just had to grab. It’s one that seems like everyone in the bookish community has been talking about it and my FOMO kicked in hard.

Now, time to see if the first few lines can pique my interest even more!

“Delilah’s eyes flipped open at the buzz on the nightstand. She blinked the unfamiliar room into focus, once… twice. It had to be at least two in the morning, maybe later. It’s been… a week and I’m particularly glad that we’ve made it to Friday. I am ready for the weekend. But before it’s time to enjoy Saturday and Sunday, it’s time for another First Lines Friday! The book I’m featuring today is one I recently picked up at the library. I had the chance to read the first chapter or so and knew I wanted to finish it!
