It’s Tuesday, which is the perfect day for a tag, yeah? This one is right up my alley because it’s the Fantasy Tropes Book Tag! Fantasy is my favorite genre, it’s what I gravitate towards the most, so you know I’m excited to do a tag focused around the inherent tropes.
We all know how long it takes me to do tags. This time, it took so long I got tagged twice 😅😂 So I want to thank two of my favorite bloggers, Danni @ _ForBooksSake and Erika @ And On She Reads, for tagging me! They both have incredible blogs that cover books of all genres and you should definitely check them out 💖

The Prompts:
1 – The Lost Princess – A book/series you lost interest in halfway through.
When I first started the Anita Blake series, I was into them. Like, really into them. I tore through the first few books and was hungry for more. And then they just kept coming. And the actually story line started getting a little… dull. Which is hard to do when your main character is a vampire hunter and there’s lots of paranormal sexy times going on! I think I stopped at book 10 and I have no interest in going back.
2 – The Knight in Shining Armor – A hyped book/series you were swept up by.
The hype around The House in the Cerulean Sea was real! I had been hearing about it everywhere and it certainly piqued my interest. But, as happens sometimes with hyped books, I kept putting off reading it because I was nervous the hype built my expectations way too high. Funnily enough, not only did this book meet my expectations, it blew them out of the water!
3 – The Wise Old Wizard – An author who amazes you with his/her writing.
Erin Morgenstern. Hands down. When I read The Night Circus, I knew I would read absolutely anything she wrote. That’s usually a decision I reserve until I’ve read at least two things by an author! My faith was solidified when I read The Starless Sea which I loved as much if not more than her first book. Her writing is just top tier.
4 – The Maiden in Distress – An undervalued character you wished had a bigger storyline.
This was a tough question so I kind of cheated 😂 Abigail from the Rivers of London series is a side character that I absolutely adore. I love that she is starting to show up more in the story because I think her storyline is so intriguing. And I love her sass! The fact that she has her own novella now probably disqualifies her from being “undervalued”… but that’s all I got.
5 – The Magical Sword – A magical item/ability you wish authors used less.
Absolutely nothing. Give me all the magical items! I wanna see all the magical abilities! And if I see them in multiple books, I’m super okay with that. Because, even if it’s used a lot, it’s always a little different depending on who writes it.
6 – The Mindless Villain – A phrase you cannot help but roll your eyes at.
I mean, there’s the ever popular…
“They let out a breath they didn’t know they were holding.”
But, if I’m honest, that phrase doesn’t really bother me that much. It’s kind of a game looking for it in YA books now 😂
7 – The Untamed Dragon – A magical creature you wish you had as a pet.
DRAGON! But, like, a mini one that can chill on my shoulder and breath tiny fires at my enemies. Would that be a wyvern? I’d build them a nest where they could hide their little hoard. It would be so cute!
8 – The Chosen One – A book/series you will always root for.
I will always and forever push The Great Library series on people. I love this series so much! Though I should probably finish the series before I force others to read it. Who knows… the last book could be terrible. Super doubt it, but it could happen! Seriously, though, this books imagine a world where the Library at Alexandria never burned down. It’s complex and intriguing and I adore the main cast of characters. Definitely worth a read.
