Top Ten Tuesday: Freebie!

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish back in June 2010. It is currently hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and, as is stated on the blog, it was “born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.”

Another TTT and it’s a freebie! Since we get to choose our topic this week, I figured I would use this Top Ten Tuesday to talk about the books I am most looking forward to in 2020. I’ll make sure that there is a link to all their Goodreads pages so that, if they sound interesting to you, it’ll be easy to add them to your TBR!

  1. Come Tumbling Down by Seanan McGuire (Release date: Jan 7th): This is the 5th installment in the Wayward Children series, which I fell in love with last year. And my favorite character, Jack, is back! I can’t wait to devour this book.
  2. American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins (Release date: Jan 21st): I read an excerpt of this book in Netgalley’s Fall Buzz Book and I have been dying to read it ever since! It’s the story of a mother and her son fleeing a Mexican drug cartel and trying to making across the border into the United States. I was lucky enough to receive an ARC from the publisher, Flatiron Books, so it will be one of the first books I read in the new year!
  3. Unravel the Dusk by Elizabeth Lim (Release date: July 7th): This is the sequel to Spin the Dawn, which was pitched as Mulan meets Project Runway and was absolutely incredible! This is the continuation of Maia’s story after the fraught events at the end of book one. I can’t wait to see what happens and the cover is freakin’ gorgeous, y’all. Click the link and check it out!
  4. A Heart So Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer (Release date: Jan 7th): Yet another sequel! This is the sequel to A Curse So Dark and Lonely, which I read on a whim last year and ended up really enjoying. I’m especially stoked for this book because we get to follow Grey’s stoic little behind! I’m excited to see where his story goes. And my Netgalley wish was granted, so I have the e-ARC!
  5. The Faithless Hawk by Margaret Owen (Release date: Jul 28th): Another book that I picked up on a whim this year and loved was The Merciless Crow. This is it’s sequel! Sensing a theme? I love our fiery heroine, Fie, and I want to see how she handles life after the events of book one. So ready for this one! And another awesome cover, too.
  6. The Invisible Life of Addie La Rue by V.E. Schwab (Release date: 2020): Now this one doesn’t have a set release date beyond the year, so who knows what may happen, but V.E. Schwab is one of my favorite authors and a definite autobuy, so I’m in. And the small synopsis says “It’s about a love story between a French girl and the devil over 300 years.” What’s not to love?
  7. The Henna Wars by Adiba Jaigirdar (Release date: May 12th): I came across the cover release for this book on Twitter, read the synopsis, and instantly wanted to read it. It’s billed as a rom com about two teen girls with rival henna businesses and one of the girls ends up catching feelings. It looks like it will be discussing some heavy topics, like cultural appropriation, and I am ready for it!
  8. Where Dreams Descend by Janella Angeles (Release date: Jun 2nd): I came across this book on Goodreads as a giveaway, saw the words Phantom of the Opera, and instantly entered the contest. And I was surprised as hell when I actually won O_O I never win Goodreads giveaways! There’s magic, there’s a circus, there’s a daring game… I’m completely sold!
  9. Bonds of Brass by Emily Skrutskie (Release date: Apr 7th): This is a new science fiction in which the first paragraph of the synopsis is, “A young pilot risks everything to save his best friend–the man he trusts most and might even love–only to learn that he’s secretly the heir to a brutal galactic empire.” Yes, please!
  10. Star Daughter by Shveta Thakrar (Release date: Aug 11): This was yet another cover that drew me in, but the synopsis made me add it. Words like competition were thrown around and I was hooked! This is about a girl who is half star, half mortal and must go on a quest to save her father. It sounds absolutely thrilling!

There you have it, in no particular order! My top ten most anticipated 2020 reads! There were a few others that were close to making the cut, like the Hunger Games prequel, but this are the ones that really get me excited. I can’t wait to dive into all of them!

What books are you looking forward to in the new year? Do any of these sound interesting? Let me know in the comments!

And, as always, happy reading!
