Hello, reader!
Welp, I blinked and somehow August is over? Not that I’m complaining as we have now entered the Best Month Ever! (Can you tell I was born in September?) As fast as August went, though, I managed to have my best reading month of 2020! Not only did I read the most books of any month in 2020, but I had two five star reads and the rest were all four stars. Like… just a solid reading month.
Let’s not talk about my review backlog, though 😬
Anyways, let’s take a look back at what I read during the month of August!

Highs and Lows
In a month filled with 4 and 5 star reads, it becomes difficult to pick out a high and a low! For the high, I had to chose between my two five star reads and I had to go with the one that I had been dying to read since 2019. My high for the month of August was…

How could I not pick the perfect sequel in a perfect duology? The Faithless Hawk was everything I was hoping it would be and more! The dry humor was there, the characters shined even more than before, and the conclusion was just *chef’s kiss* Margaret Owen has definitely gotten onto my favorite authors list! I can’t wait to see what she writes next.
As for a “low”, I honestly can’t pick one for August! There was nothing disappointing, I thoroughly enjoyed everything I read, and there were no ratings less than a four star. Can every month be like this? Have I jinxed myself by saying that..?
Reflections
Well, look who finally read some books off of her owned TBR shelf! And five of them, no less! I’m really pleased with how many books I read that I already owned. I’m also going to completely ignore the fact that I bought more than five books that now fill those spots. I can’t have empty spaces on my bookshelf now can I?
(That shelf is never getting any less full…)
I’m also getting close to actually completing the Popsugar Reading Challenge this year! I’ve still got quite a few prompts to check off, but I think I’ve officially finished more than I did during the 2019 challenge. As for the Book Riot Read Harder Challenge… I’m probably gonna have to call that one a loss 😅 That’s not to say that I’m not going to try to complete some more prompts before the end of the year, but I definitely won’t be finishing that one. Hey, that just gives me a goal to shoot for in 2021!
I’m also pretty pumped that I actually finished all the books on my Trope-ical Readathon TBR! I mean, I only gave myself six that I absolutely had to read, but I’m still excited I reached that goal. I had a lot of fun participating in the readathon. I didn’t really get to do the 24 hour readathons as I was working both weekends that they happened, but they looked like they were enjoyable. I do love a good Bingo board 😁 And I had a ton of fun participating in random reading sprints! I can’t wait to join in the next round.
Honestly, I’m pretty jazzed with the caliber of reads I got to in August! I also re-read Raybearer, firmly solidifying it as my favorite book of 2020, so far. It was even better the second time around! August was far and away the best reading month I’ve had all year. Let’s hope I can keep this energy going into September!
How was your reading in August? Did you find a new favorite? Did you participate in any readathons? Let me know in the comments!
And, as always, happy reading!
Looks like you read some amazing books! I can’t wait for Mexican Gothic to come in at the library 😍

I have always wanted to read Gone Girl, it’s on my To Be Read List. I have seen the movie and thought it was amazing! If you haven’t seen it, you totally should. Gillian Flynn was part of the screen play writing, so that’s good.
Where did you find those challenges? And what are some of the challenges for September? I would love to participate, as well.

I haven’t seen the movie, but now I definitely want to!
Most of the challenges I found through Google and Goodreads. The readathons I tend to run across on Booktube or Twitter! I’m not sure of any for September, but I’m sure if you poke around Twitter or even Google it, you can find some!

The movie is amazing! Although because I haven’t read the book, I don’t know how it compares to the book. But I know the author Gillian Flynn was active with writing the movie, so I’m sure it’s good.
Thank you so much, I’ll definitely check those out. If I don’t find any, I guess, I can make my own challenges with my books. 🙂
