WWW Wednesday: Nov 3, 2021

It’s time for another WWW Wednesday! This is a bookish meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words where bloggers answer the 3 Ws:

  1. What are you currently reading?
  2. What did you recently finish reading?
  3. What do you think you’ll read next?

If you’d like to learn more about any of these books, click on the cover to be taken to the Goodreads page.

Current Reads

  • Skin of the Sea by Natasha Bowen: Every time I see the cover of this book, I fall in love all over again. It’s so gorgeous! I’m reading this Black mermaid tale for a book tour and, I have to say, I’m having a great time. It’s steeped in West African mythology and I love the lush, vibrant world that the author has created. You can expect to see my full review soon.
  • Ring Shout by P. Djèlí Clark: I’ve only just started this book, but I am loving it so far! I think the concept is fascinating and I’m hoping there will be a lot of demon-slaying and a lot of white supremacist ass-kicking. I am curious to see how much can be packed into this short novella, as well. Hopefully, this small book will pack a large punch!

  • Journey to the Heart of the Abyss by London Shah: This was such an engaging and fun end to an incredible series! I read this for a tour and am so happy that I decided to sign up. This series has always been on my radar, though usually not in the forefront. I’m glad I gave it a shot because I ended up having such a great time. This story had a little bit of everything: action, adventure, romance. If you want to know my full thoughts, you can read my review here!
  • Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi: What to say about this beautiful graphic memoir? This is a heartbreaking, insightfu book that taught me a lot about life in Iran during a very turbulent time. I instantly wanted to pick up the next graphic novel and continue Marjane’s journey into adulthood! The art wasn’t my favorite, but the story it told blew me away. This was definitely worth the read.

What’s Next

  • These Violent Delights by Chloe Gong: I’m sort of, kind of participating in #NetgalleyNovember in that I want to try and read as many books off my Netgalley backlist as I can, but I’m not making an official TBR or anything. This book is now the oldest Netgalley approval I have and I’m mad at myself for having not read it yet! It sounds like something I would love, with the 1920s vibes, monsters, and a splash of Shakespeare. I’m excited to finally pick it up!
  • Hamnet by Maggie O’Farrell: Speaking of Shakespeare, this book has been on my radar since it came out. Not gonna lie, I was originally pulled in because of the title and my love for Hamlet. The synopsis makes it sound incredible and I’ve heard nothing but great things! Besides, I borrowed it from the library, so I have to read it now, right? I’m really looking forward to it.
