It’s time for another WWW Wednesday! This is a bookish meme hosted by Taking on a World of Words where bloggers answer the 3 Ws:
- What are you currently reading?
- What did you recently finish reading?
- What do you think you’ll read next?
If you’d like to learn more about any of these books, click on the cover to be taken to the Goodreads page.
Current Reads
- The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake: This book snuck its way onto my radar after it seemed like everyone in the bookish community was talking about it. I know little about it other than it’s dark academia and it was originally self-published. It’s the story of six magically gifted people competing for a chance to join the Alexandrian Society, who holds all the secret knowledge supposedly lost in the great fire that burned down the Library of Alexandria. Unfortunately, there are only five spots available and it’s heavily hinted that whoever doesn’t get a spot also doesn’t get out alive. I’m enjoying the story, so far, though I’m not too far in. There’s a lot of characters to get used to, but I’m loving it!
- The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa: I’m reading this book for a group I’m in on Goodreads. It’s one of the Book of the Month selections, which I was happy about because I’ve been curious about this book for awhile. I do love a multiple POV novel and, in this one, we get the POV of a cat, as well! So far, this is such a sweet and cozy story, but it’s hinting at something that I know is going to destroy me later. We’re following a man named Satoru and his beloved cat, Nana, as they travel around trying to find someone that will take Nana into their home. I’m suspicious that, whatever reason Satoru has for giving up a cat he clearly loves, is going to make me a mess. Will it make me cry? Stay tuned, haha.
Recently Finished
- The Paradox Hotel by Rob Hart: This was such a quick and engaging read! I picked up this science fiction novel about a ex-time traveling detective who now works as head of security at a fancy hotel for time travelers not really knowing what to expect going in. Thankfully, I was captivated by this story from the moment I read the first chapter. It certainly helps that this book focused less on the improbable science of traveling to the past and more on the murder mystery central to the plot and the characters populating the story. It was an incredible read! You can read my full review here.
- Amelia Unabridged by Ashley Schumacher: I randomly decided to knock of some books that have been on my Netgalley shelf for… an embarrassing amount of time 😅 I found the audiobook for this story on Scribd and decided to give it a listen so I could finally read this book. My goodness did this just come for my feelings. I knew this was a book about grief, I was prepared for to be sad, but I wasn’t prepared for how absolutely beautiful this book was. The writing, the imagery, the characters… they all came together to make something truly special. I’m not gonna say too much as I still need to write my review, but just know that I truly enjoyed this one!
What’s Next
- Onyeka and the Academy of the Sun by Tọlá Okogwu: I received an ARC of this book with its stunning cover and I’m eager to get into it! It sounds absolutely magical. It features a young, Black girl named Onyeka who finds out that her Afro hair has psychokinetic powers. She’s sent to an academy in Nigeria that is especially for young people with powers and I can only imagine hijinks ensue from there. I can’t wait to dive into this one!
- Delilah Green Doesn’t Care by Ashley Herring Blake: This is another book where the hype train truly got me. This sapphic romance has been talked about all over the place and it just sounds so wonderful! It follows Delilah Green and Claire Sutherland, two women thrown together by a mutual friend’s (or stepsister, in Delilah’s case) wedding. Delilah is looking for some fun while she’s stuck in the boring town where she grew up. Claire isn’t looking for anything. But sparks fly and I’m eager to watch it happen.
Amelia Unabridged has been sat on my NG shelf for an embarrassingly long time too (and it’s still there now!) but I’ve heard it’s so good although very *very* emotional and I don’t know if I’m ready for the feels? I am looking forward to reading it though so I’m glad to see you enjoyed it. 😊 Can’t wait to see your thoughts on TAS (everyone and their mum has been on this)—happy reading!

Thanks, Dini! Amelia Unabridged will definitely have you all in your feelings, but it was a fantastic read! I’m getting through TAS slower than I would like, but that’s because I’m savoring it so much! Happy reading to you, too 😊
