Hello, reader!
It’s time for another Top 5 Tuesday post! This week’s theme is all about rainy day reads. Now, me personally, when it starts raining outside, it immediately puts me in a mood for a spooky read. Whether it’s thriller, mystery, or horror, I want to read something that’s gonna make my spine tingle.
That being said, here are some of favorite rainy day reads that definitely delivered on the spooky/thrilling factor!
#1. The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware
This is my favorite Ruth Ware novel so far! And I think it definitely qualifies when it comes to spookiness. I spent most of the novel wondering whether or not there were ghosts involved. There were so many moments that just added to the tension in such a great way. Add in some creepy little kids and this book is just A++. I had such a good time reading this one!
#2. Down Among the Sticks and Bones by Seanan McGuire
This is technically billed as a fantasy, but the second installment in the Wayward Children series definitely leans into horror. Not only is this an incredible novella, but the setting, the Moors, is pretty much the perfect setting for a rainy day read, imo. This continues to be my favorite installment in this series and I don’t see that changing any time soon. I just love how creepy and odd the Moors are and I could read an entire series set there.
