Hello, reader!
It’s time for my first tag of the new year! I’m going to try to keep up with these in 2023 because I very much failed to do so in 2022 π This tag seems to be a perfect one for a fresh start. It’s the New Year’s Book Tag and I was tagged by the wonderful Ashlee @ Books Are 42. If you haven’t checked out her blog before, I highly suggest you do!
Alright, now let’s get to the tag!
How many books are you planning to read in 2023?

My goal for this year is my most ambitious yet. I’m hoping to read 100 books this year! I think it’s totally doable as I’ve read over 100 books the last two years. It’s still daunting to see that number sitting on my Goodreads homepage π
Name 5 books that you didnβt get to this past year but want to make a priority in 2023.
Hahaha, there are so many books that I wish I had gotten to last year. I had two whole TBRs that I left… quite a few books on. I would love to get to all of the books that were left behind, but these five are ones I am going to try and prioritize in 2023.
- Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
- The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen
- Old Man’s War by John Scalzi
- The Hero of Ages by Brandon Sanderson
- House of Earth and Blood by Sarah J. Maas
What genre do you want to read more of?
I’d like to continue my romance journey and delve more into the genre! I’ve really only been reading rom-coms, so far, and I wouldn’t mind dipping my toes into different romances. If I don’t like them, I can just retreat into my fluffy, rom-com world π I’d also like to make a conscious effort to pick up more science fiction this year! I feel like I’ve been ignoring the SF side of my SFF roots, lately, and I want to get back into it.
Name 3 not-related-to-book goals for 2023
- Get organized! My little office/library is a mess and I want to organize my space.
- Exercise! Stress at work and my constant tiredness because my blood won’t work (anemia sucks) have caused me to be a bit of a slug. I want to move more this year.
- Complete a house-related project! There are… so many things I want to do to our house and 2023 is the year that at least one of them gets done!
Whatβs a book you have had forever and are determined to read?
I’m not 100% sure how long I’ve owned Vicious by V.E. Schwab but I know it’s been… awhile π I bought it soon after I started getting into Schwab’s work and it has languished on my shelves ever since. I feel like I’m going to love this book once I give it a chance! That’s why I am going to make sure I finally read it in 2023! Hold me accountable, blog post.
One word that youβre hoping 2023 will be
Peaceful. I’m not expecting every day to be smooth sailing, but I’m hoping for less chaos than what 2022 provided π We shall see!

YAAAS, Vicious! YOU MUST! π I hope you do pick it up and enjoy it too! I also need to read House of Earth and Blood but I’m low-key intimidated by how big it is. Maybe we can do a buddy read sometime this year if you’re up for it? Happy reading, Kerri and thanks so much for the tag!

I have only heard good things about Vicious! I will definitely be making that a priority! I’m also intimidated by the length of House of Earth and Blood π I’ve also never read a SJM book before. I’d love to set up a buddy read with you, Dini! And you’re welcome π

Thanks for the tag! So many great options here! I hope you get to all of them. I loved Vicious, Bridge Kingdom, and Crescent City so much! Highly recommend those!! I still need to read book two in the Mistborn series and get on with it. At least, I picked up the second book in the Stormlight Archives, haha.

You’re welcome! I’ve been meaning to get to the Stormlight Archives, but I told myself I had to finish the first Mistborn era first π 2023 will be the year!
