Down the TBR Hole #41

It’s time for a new round of Down the TBR Hole! This is where I go through my Goodreads ‘Want to Read’ shelf and do a bit of cleaning up. If you want to see the full description of what this post is all about, check out my first round HERE.

Hello, reader!

I hope y’all had a great Tuesday. It’s almost 8:30 pm here in Massachusetts and I just got home from work. So, to wind down, I figured why not do a Down the TBR Hole post? I’ve got a posting streak going on and I don’t want to break it! Also, I’ve been, err, acquiring books on the TBR recently. Not a lot! I’m still at around 700 books on my ‘Want to Read’ shelf (701 books, to be exact), but I know I’m going to be adding more and more as 2023 releases get announced.

That said, let’s get to trimming!

Eight Perfect Murders by Peter Swanson

I’ve wanted to read a Swanson mystery for awhile and this one is at the top of my list. But I’ve heard it also contains spoilers for some mysteries that I haven’t read yet. I definitely still want to read this, though, as it centers around books. So I guess it gets to stick around for now. Unless I read another Peter Swanson and find I don’t enjoy his writing 🤷🏾‍♀️

Verdict: Keep

Good Girls Lie by J.T. Ellison

Hahaha, I don’t even remember adding this book to my ‘Want to Read’ shelf. Which happens more frequently than it should. According to the synopsis, this is a thriller set at a boarding school. There’s lies and popular kids and it sounds… kind of dull. I have so many thrillers on my TBR that I don’t have room for ones that don’t get me excited when I read the synopsis. So this one has to go.

Verdict: Remove

The Other People by C.J. Tudor

I’ve read another book by C.J. Tudor (The Chalk Man) and rather enjoyed it. It was haunting and fast-paced and I didn’t see the twist coming… all signs of a great thriller! That makes me want to read this book even more. The synopsis sounds like it’ll be another read filled with dread and I can’t wait to give it a go. Eventually… Y’all know how I am!

Verdict: Keep

The Severed Moon by Leigh Bardugo

Here’s another book that I don’t even remember adding, haha. And this one isn’t even a book! Look, I love a nice journal as much as the next book lover, but I have so many. Even if this one has prompts and quotes from Leigh Bardugo. My bookshelves are already cluttered enough as it is 😅

Verdict: Remove

As the Shadow Rises by Katy Rose Pool

This is the sequel to a book I haven’t even read yet 😂 I own There Will Come a Darkness and I do want to read it. It just keeps getting pushed further and further back on my TBR. I will read it one day, hopefully soon, because it sounds like a fantasy novel I would love. There’s a group of misfits fighting for their lives and the world! There’s a prophecy! Until I read the first book, though… this one has ta go.

Verdict: Remove

Starting total: 701
Removed: 3
End total: 698

Until next round, happy reading!
