As I was blog hopping and trying to think of what I wanted to post today, I stumbled across the Disney Song Book Tag over @TheBookDutchesses blog. Their blog is lovely and I always enjoy checking out their posts. You should definitely go check them out!
Both Candyce and Isabelle have done this tag and it looked like so much fun, I had to join in. I grew up on Disney and I still look back on movies like The Lion King and Aladdin with intense fondness. And of course I routinely belt out the popular tunes from all the old Disney movies! I just couldn’t pass up this tag! With that being said, let’s jump in.
Part of Your World โ What book world would you change yourself for so you could be a part of that world?
Though I’m not all about changing yourself just to fit in somewhere, I would do some ludicrous things to be able to live in Red London! Especially if I got to hang out with Kell and Lila. Oh! Or if I could change myself into an Antari somehow and be able to travel between the Londons. I would be okay with that kind of change, lol. Either way, I think it’s such an interesting world and I would love to visit.
The Book Blogger Hop was originally created byย Crazy-For-Booksย and is currently being hosted byย Coffee Addicted Writer. Oh, most definitely! Though I love my ebooks, I have a soft spot for physical books and I always will. So if I read something in ebook format that I absolutely love, I tend to want it in the physical format, as well. Especially since I go through phases where ebooks just don’t do it for me. Also, I can’t display my ebooks and I like having my favorite books on my bookshelves.
Beyond that, though, since I’m a member of Netgalley, I get a lot of ARCs in ebook format. If I read an ARC and love it, I like to buy the book to help support the author. And if I’m gonna buy a book, it’s going to be a physical book! I’m privileged enough to be able to buy the physical book of all the ARCs I’ve loved and it makes me and my bookshelves happy ๐
Other than that, if I read an ebook and just liked it, I’m not that inclined to buy another version of the same book.
Have you ever bought the physical book after reading an ebook? If so, what book was it? Let me know in the comments!

Current Reads
Catalyst by Tracy Richardson: I’ve just started this one for another #TheWriteReads Ultimate Blog Tour. It definitely drops you right into the story! The story revolves arounf a young woman with mysterious powers who is working on an archaeological dig. I’m excited to see where this one takes me.
Tilly and the Bookwanderers by Anna James: I’m reading this for a monthly book club called Middle Grade Marvels! It is ridiculously cute and I’m loving the bookish aspect of it. Seriously, how cool would it be to be able to go into your favorite book?! It’s hard keeping to the reading schedule because I just want to devour this all in one sitting ๐

Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo: I have officially found a new auto-buy author. I will read anything Elizabeth Acevedo writes at this point. She has derailed all my reading plans for this month and I don’t even care! It’s taking all my willpower to not pick up my copy of With the Fire on High instead of all the books I need to read. This was such a gorgeous, heartbreaking book and it was especially powerful listening to the audiobook. My review will be up soon!
What’s Next
The Court of Miracles by Kester Grant: I think I’ve mentioned this one on the blog before. It’s billed as a mash-up between Les Misรฉrablesย andย Six of Crows and that’s all I needed to hear to want to read it! And, amazingly, I got approved for an e-ARC on Netgalley! So I’m definitely going to try and get to this one ASAP.

Top Ten Tuesday was created byย The Broke and the Bookishย back in June 2010. It is currently hosted byย That Artsy Reader Girlย and, as is stated on the blog, it was โborn of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.โ
Hello, reader!
This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is kind of an open-ended one. This week, we get to talk about reasons you love… anything really! I thought about it and decided to go with my favorite genre: fantasy. I have a lot more than ten reasons, but I’ll try to be brief!
Nostalgia: Fantasy was the genre I first gravitated towards as a young reader. It will always hold a special place in my heart ๐
Magic: I’ve always been fascinated by the concept of magic and fantasy is typically my go-to for magical things.
Epic tales: I do love a good epic story, though I sometimes have difficulties finishing them! Fantasy has an abundance of epic tales that span multiple books I can get lost in.
Immersion: Speaking of getting lost, I feel like fantasy is the best genre when you’re looking for something to completely engulf you.
Creatures: I do love reading about mythical creatures, like dragons and fae. Fantasy is clutch when it comes to fulfilling my needs for creatures not seen in this world.
Series: This is kind of attached to “epic tales”, but I really enjoy getting into a good series. A lot of times, these series are in fantasy. Well… at least the ones that I tend to enjoy. Now whether or not I finish the series… *cough*
Therapy: Sometimes, when I’m in a foul mood or am feeling blue, I’ll turn to books to help me feel better. Usually, I’ll pick up a fantasy tale so I don’t have to think about the real world for a little while.
Diversity: This is a more recent thing and can, of course, be found across genres, but I’m loving the current trend of diverse fantasy! I love being able to pick up a fantasy novel that feature characters that look like me.
Covers: Not gonna lie, I’m a total sucker for a pretty cover. And fantasy books tend to have the prettiest covers! Totally my opinion, of course, but there have been so many stunning fantasy covers in the last few years!
Themes: Though the themes I tend to love in books are ubiquitous across genres, I tend to enjoy them more if they are in a fantasy setting. It’s just interesting to see them explored in a setting where there are additional obstacles thrown in the way… like dragons.
What are some reasons you love your favorite genre? Did you do your own Top Ten Tuesday? Let me know in the comments!
#5OnMyTBR is a bookish meme hosted byย E. @ Local Bee Hunterโs Nookย where you chose five books from your to-be-read pile that fit that weekโs theme. If youโd like more info, head over to theย announcement post!
Hello, reader!
It’s the start of another week and that means it’s time for another #5OnMyTBR! This week, I’ll be talking about books that are a little different from the norm. They aren’t told through normal prose, but in an unconventional format. Think of books told through letters, diary entries, or a combination of different forms! I’m always intrigued by books that a little different from the norm, so there are quite a few on my TBR. That being said, let’s dive in!
#1. The Perks of Being a Wallflowerby Stephen Chbosky
I feel like one of just a few people who haven’t read this iconic book. It’s a coming of age story told through a series of letters. I’ve been wanting to read this for ages. It sounds like it will be a powerful, if heartbreaking, story. And we all know how much I love to have my heart crushed by a book! …I have a problem ๐
It’s time for another Sunday By My Shelf! This is a bookish meme that was started byย Fiona @ Fiโs Bibliofiles. The purpose is to explore books sitting on your physical TBR as opposed to a virtual one. It is bi-weekly, with new topics to talk about each time. The schedule can be found on Fionaโs original postย here!
Technically, I should have posted this last Sunday. Last Sunday was Mother’s Day, though, and I spent the entire day being spoiled and lazy, lol. So I’m bringing you last week’s topic this week! The books I’ll be talking about that are chilling on my physical TBR, waiting for my attention, are series that I own, but have not started. Most of the ones I’ll be discussing are series where I bought the first book but have yet to pick up the rest of the series because I still haven’t read the book I bought! There are quite a few to talk about, so let’s dive in.
#1. The Legacy of Orisha series
I’ve been interested in this series for quite some time. I received the first in the series as a gift and ended up buying the second on a whim while shopping. Because that’s the type of person I am ๐ I’m excited to dive into The Children of Blood and Bone and discover the world that Tomi Adeyemi has crafted! And, besides all that, the cover is just iconic. We love to see a dark-skinned black girl front and center on a YA fantasy!
#2. The Arc of a Scythe series
This is one of those books that I picked up simply because of internet hype. So many Booktubers love this series! Of course, it also sounds incredibly intriguing: a world where no one dies, so a whole organization forms to cull the population. I can only image the moral dilemmas that will arise! I picked the first book up at a Barnes & Noble some time ago and now it just sits… patiently waiting for its time.

Okay, so… my TBR has gotten even more ridiculous since joining the world of book bloggers. Mostly because I’m now following a lot more blogs than I did before! I’ve gotten a lot of suggestions for books that I think I will adore.
Have I read these books? Hahahaha… no ๐ฌ
I have intentions to get to them! Eventually. But I’ve been very focused on keeping up on ARCs and doing blog tours and chipping away at all the books I already own. So I can’t honestly think of a book I’ve recently that I picked up because of a book blogger’s suggestion. I think the closest would probably be The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo because literally EVERYONE suggested I read that book ๐ (Thank you, btw!)
Now, the list of books I planon reading because of the various wonderful bloggers that I follow, that list would be extensive. And ask me this same question next year and I’m sure I’ll have read at least a couple, heh.
What was the last book you read because of a blogger’s suggestion? Did you enjoy it? Let me know in the comments!

Currently Reads
Clap When You Land by Elizabeth Acevedo: So, this book honestly wasn’t on my radar. I had heard about it and thought the premise was interesting, but I hadn’t read a book written in verse before. I wasn’t sure how I would feel about it.
And then I read The Poet X by the same author and IMMEDIATELY downloaded this book so I could read it, too! I found both audiobooks on Scribd and, honestly, that is the way to go with both of them. The audiobooks are incredible! I’m not too far into Clap When You Land, but I feel like I’m going to love it just as much as The Poet X.

Disenchanted by Brianna Sugalski: This one ended up being a fun, action-packed read that I enjoyed, but didn’t love. Mostly because it was incredibly insta-lovey and that just isn’t my thing. Still, I loved the descriptions and the action and, overall, had a good time reading this. You can read my full review here!
Harrow Lake by Kat Ellis: A horror book that read like a campy 80’s horror flick! This was a creepy, atmospheric read and I really enjoyed it. You could feel the sinister vibes just oozing from the pages! You can read my full review here.
The Poet X by Elizabeth Acevedo: I read this on a whim after downloading Scribd. I had always heard that the audiobook was incredible and, dear lord, folks weren’t kidding! This was so emotional and raw and beautiful. There were tears, there was laughter… I absolutely adored this book! I’m still gathering my thoughts together on this one, but a review will be up soon.
What’s Next
Catalyst by Tracy Richardson: I’ll participating in the #TheWriteReads blog tour for this book, so I’ll definitely be picking it up next! It’s about a young woman named Marcie with some mysterious powers and it sounds like it will be a fun ride! I’m looking forward to it.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish back in June 2010. It is currently hosted by That Artsy Reader Girland, as is stated on the blog, it was โborn of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.โ
Hello, reader!
I have a confession to make. Though I often encourage people to stop reading a book they aren’t enjoying (too many books, too little time!), I am v. bad at DNFing books. I don’t know if it’s a completionist thing or I just like to torture myself, but I can think of two books that I have given up on from my entire life as a reader. TWO! Which is something I really need to work on because forcing myself to complete books that I’m not enjoying has knocked me into severe reading slumps before. Looking at you, The Bone Ships… which I am still, technically, reading ๐ต
That being said, I’m doing a bit of a twist on this week’s TTT. The theme is the last ten books I’ve abandoned, but, instead, I’m going to give you the ten books I should have given up on! And let’s hope I can give up this need to finish every book I start.
A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson*
The Man Without Qualities by Robert Musil*
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontรซ
Demon Girl by Penelope Fletcher
Don Quixote by Miguel de Cervantes
Great Expectations by Charles Dickens
The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Incubus Dreams by Laurell K. Hamilton
Airframe by Michael Crichton
Marked by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast
The two books marked with an asterisk are my two, legit DNFs. But all of these books have one of two things in common:
They were so dull I could feel my brain atrophying.
The tropes were rage inducing.
So, though I struggled through most of these books, I definitely should have used my better judgment and just let them go. After all, life is too short to waste time on bad books.
(And just in case one of your faves is on this list, please know that when I say “bad”, I mean that as my own personal opinion!)
So what are some books you just couldn’t finish recently? Did you do your own TTT? Let me know in the comments!

Hello, reader!
It’s been a minute since I participated in the #5OnMyTBR weekly meme, hasn’t it? When I saw this week’s theme, I knew I couldn’t pass it up! Strap on your capes and fasten your utility belts; we’re talking about superheros! Though I don’t know the most about superheros and am hopelessly behind on Marvel movies, they were always hold a special place in my heart. I remember growing up reading comic books and cartoon shows centered around superheros, as most kids did. So I’m excited to talk about 5 superhero books on my TBR!
